Subject: Y2K Status of API UP1000, UP2000, and DP264 Products

The “year 2000 issue” is that some computers could misinterpret the digits “00” in a date field to mean the year 1900 rather than 2000.  Some also might not recognize year 2000 as a leap year (the turn of the century is a leap year just once every four centuries), and so may not be able to do the transition properly from February 28 to February 29 to March 1, 2000.

API has tested the UP1000, UP2000 and DP264 Motherboard Products for these millennium related problems.  These motherboards were found to perform properly under our tests.

-          Millennium test under CMOS setup:

We tested whether the bios recognizes the year 2000.  We changed the date to December 31, 1999 and rebooted the system.  The system turned back on and the date properly changed to 1/01/2000.

We changed the date to February 28, 2000 and let the date change to February 29, 2000.  This change indicates that there were no problems related to the leap year change.

Given the tests and simulations we have implemented, API believes there to be no problems related to the outlined Y2K issues.
