sane-frontends-1.0.11: description + notes

The sane-frontends package contains the following SANE (Scanner Access Now Easy) frontends:

To use these frontends you must install the sane-backends package, which includes also the command-line frontend scanimage and the network daemon saned.

The xscanimage frontend included in this package is not compiled with the GIMP support libraries. If you want to access the SANE supported scanners from the GIMP, you will have to install the xsane package.

For more details, see the official SANE website.

Previous versions of the IRIX Freeware distribution included a fw_sane package. The SANE source code has since been reorganized. Install both fw_sane-backends and fw_sane-frontends to get the equivalent of the old fw_sane package.

Special thanks to Andrea Suatoni (a.suatoni@telefonica.net) for helping port this package to IRIX.
