OK,

Following on from below and assuming I've installed the patch to make
dataScaleRange work correctly is there any difference, in terms of
performance etc in the order that ...

voAppearanceActions::dataScaleRange(brick, loValue, hiValue);

and

voAppearanceActions::dataConvert(brick, vdata,diskDataFormat);

are called?
