OSF-AXP CLOCK_DUNIX1032D 1032D Digital UNIX clock V2.0 - 3.2D ECO Summary

Copyright (c) Digital Equipment Corporation 1996. All rights reserved. PRODUCT: Digital UNIX, Version 2.0 through 3.2D SOURCE: Digital Equipment Corporation ECO INFORMATION: ECO Kit Name: CLOCK_DUNIX1032D ECO Kits Superseded by This ECO Kit: None ECO Kit Approximate Size: CLOCK_DUNIX1032D.tar 55280 Blocks System Reboot Necessary: See README file installation instructions ECO KIT SUMMARY: An ECO kit exists for Digital UNIX V2.0 - 3.2D. This kit addresses the following problems: 1) The 'date' command rejects February 29, 1996 (or any other leap year) as a valid date. 2) When the system time is changed with the 'date' to any date in March of a leap year and then rebooted, the system clock will lose one day. INSTALLATION NOTES: Copy the appropriate version of clock.o into /sys/BINARY after saving the original and rebuild the kernel. This will correct the problem where a day is lost when the time is adjusted and the system rebooted during the month of March of a leap year. Important note--- The rebuilt kernel must be up and running before any checks are made to see if the patch has been properly incorporated. If the time is adjusted prior to rebooting with the new kernel the loss of a day upon the first reboot is expected. Copy the appropriate 'date' image to /sbin/date. This copy of 'date' is a replacement for the version found in the following patches: OSF300-234, OSF305-234, OSF-320-214 and OSF325-320191. The library corrections from these patches should still be installed as they correct the behavior of the 'date' command which uses the shared version of the libc routine 'strptime'. For V2.0/V2.1 and V2.0b systems OSFV20-236-22 should be installed. Version V3.2c and V3.2d already incorporate the change to 'strptime'. Only the correction to clock.o is necessary for these versions.
