TMLNKS-WIN TLWE0230 TeamLinks Office V3.0 for Windows ECO Summary

TITLE: TMLNKS-WIN TLWE0230 TeamLinks Office V3.0 for Windows ECO Summary Copyright (c) Compaq Computer Corporation 1998. All rights reserved. Modification Date: 09-OCT-1998 Modification Type: Updated ECO Kit - Supersedes TLWE0130 PRODUCT: TeamLinks Office V3.0 for Microsoft Windows [R] OP/SYS: MS-DOS, Version 5.0 or later Microsoft Windows, Version 3.1 or later SOURCE: Compaq Computer Corporation ECO INFORMATION: ECO Kit Name: TLWE0230 ECO Kits Superseded by This ECO Kit: TLWE0130 ECO Kit Approximate Size: 4620 Blocks 2365440 Bytes ECO KIT SUMMARY: An ECO kit exists for TeamLinks Office V3.0 for Microsoft Windows. This kit addresses the following problems: Problems Addressed in TLWE0230: o TeamLinks tries to connect when user is in offline mode. When a user is disconnected and in offline mode and needs to reply to a message, TeamLinks attempts to connect the user as it brings up the Create Message window. This problem occurs only when the user is not on a network, or working on WinNT. This problem does not occur when the user is on a network with Win95. Modules Updated: INFOMAN.EXE o Personal Name field in Mail Profile not being updated. Using MailWorks File Cabinet: 1. Connect to File Cab as User1 - send a message - clear passwords - disconnect 2. Connect to File Cab as User2 - send a message 3. Open Mail Profile for the current user (User2) from TeamLinks Setup. Mail Profile still shows that of User1 and the message that is sent, goes with the personal name of User1. Modules Updated: INFOMAN.EXE o Beyond Year 2000 date display error - Lotus123/AmiPro integration. You'll need to have Lotus 1-2-3 Release 5.1 installed as well as TeamLinks integration for Lotus and AmiPro. 1. Set your system date to year 2000. 2. Launch Lotus 1-2-3/AmiPro and save a new document to a DOS directory. 3. From the File menu, select Open File Cabinet Document. 4. In the File Open dialog, click the DOS button. 5. Select the document saved in step 2. above and examine the File information text box. The year "100" gets noted. Modules Updated: TLCAMI.DLL TLC123.DLL o Menu Editor Create Message Window Failure. Launching an executable from a menu item and/or pushbutton defined in the Create Message Window by the TeamLinks Menu Editor results in the activation of an "Insert Image" dialog box. IMPORTANT NOTE : The activation of an "Insert Image" dialog box no longer appears with this fix. The problem will still exist for the menu items previously created even after the fix. Those menu items have to be recreated. Modules Updated: INFOMAN.EXE TLSETUP.EXE o Outbox system folder appearing as "Outbox" instead of the "Envoy'e" in TeamLinks French version. After installing TeamLinks French Version 3.0-1 with ALL-IN-ONE as your Primary File Cabinet, the copies of the sent messages are placed in the "Outbox" folder instead of the "Envoy'e". Envoy'e means Outbox in French and the bug caused an English "Outbox" with the sent messages in it. Modules Updated: CFCIOS.DLL TLWE0230 Kit contains fixes for the following TeamLinks components: ------------------------------------------------------------------- INFOMAN.EXE TLCAMI.DLL TLINSTAL.EXE TLC123.DLL TLSETUP.EXE CFCIOS.DLL Problems Addressed in TLWE0130: o Landscape cover memos printed in portrait A foreign document attached to a message, which should print as landscape, prints as portrait. Modules Updated: CONVERT.DLL INFODLL.DLL o Find begins to fail when there are over 50 folders in a search. This problem occurs using "Find" on an IOS drawer containing more than fifty folders. This only applies to IOS drawers. Modules Updated: INFOMAN.EXE FCLIST.DLL o Comma delimited decimal list in INI file poses a translation problem for Europe. The editor values for left, right, and first line indent were stored in a comma delimited list in OFFICE.INI. This list has been replaced by using three separate tags to specify the values. Modules Updated: INFOMAN.EXE o Create message window text is lost during spell check. Create message window body text may be erased when spell check is invoked from a position in the middle of message text. Modules Updated: TLSPELL.DLL o Add switch to OFFICE.INI to turn off font test when opening Create Message window. On some systems, when testing fonts during the open of a create message window, the error message "The designated text area is too small ..." appears for each font that cannot be set. To disable the font test and thus eliminate the error message, add FontTest=0 to the [TeamLinks Mail] section of OFFICE.INI. Modules Updated: INFOMAN.EXE o Problem caused by the integration macro trying to use the "ToolsWordCount" command when a document with a protected field is active. Using Microsoft Word6 or Microsoft Word7, a problem is caused by the integration macro trying to use the "ToolsWordCount" command when a document with a protected field is active. Since this command is not available for such a document, the result is the Word application is frozen. Modules Updated: TLWW6INT.DOT TLWW7INT.DOT o Cannot access the TeamLinks File Cabinet from within Microsoft Excel-97 Users cannot open documents in the TeamLinks File Cabinet from Microsoft Excel-97 and they cannot send TeamLinks Mail from Microsoft Excel-97 as well. This was caused by Microsoft not supporting ODMA in Microsoft Excel-97. Hence, TeamLinks needs to provide VBA macro integration to resolve the problem. These macros can only be installed on systems running Windows 95. For additional information about the Microsoft Excel-97 integration and how to install it, please refer to the XL8TLINT.TXT file after applying the ECO1 upgrade. Modules Udpated: XL8TLINT.XLA XL8TLINT.DLL XL8TLINT.TXT XL8TLINS.XLS XL8TL.XLA TLXL5.HLP o Installation procedure has to change for ECO to deal with Microsoft Excel 97 integration. The installation needs to ask whether or not to install Microsoft Excel 97 integration. If installing on Windows 95 a question will be asked at the end of the installation. It won't come up as a selectable option as it does for the other integrations. System administrators can use DEFAULTS.INI to automate the TeamLinks Installation procedure. For example, administrators can select the installation options beforehand and hide the installation dialog boxes from the user. This type of installation is called an unattended installation because the person installing the software cannot change the predefined installation options. If you currently use DEFAULTS.INI to run unattended installations, keep in mind the following: TeamLinks will not install the Microsoft Excel 97 integration software during unattended installations unless you modify the[DEFAULTS] section of DEFAULTS.INI with the following additional entry: InstallAIKExcel97=1 Modules Updated: TLINSTAL.EXE o Install without dialogs causes stack overflow in windows kit. On a clean installation of V3.0, a stack overflow will occur if an unattended installation is done and DisplayDialogs=0 is set in DEFAULTS.INI. Modules Updated: TLINSTAL.EXE TLWE0130 contains fixes for the following TeamLinks components: ------------------------------------------------------------------- CONVERT.DLL FCLIST.DLL INFODLL.DLL INFOMAN.EXE TLINSTAL.EXE TLSPELL.DLL TLWW6INT.DOT TLWW7INT.DOT TLXL5.HLP XL8TLINT.DLL XL8TLINT.TXT XL8TL.XLA XL8TLINT.XLA XL8TLINS.XLS INSTALLATION NOTES: The ECO Kit consists of two files - this cover letter (TLWE0230.CVR) and a self-extracting archive file (TLWE0230.EXE). The self-extracting file expands into two files, DISK1.EXE and DISK2.EXE that are also self-extracting, and another copy of this cover letter file. After expansion, you install the ECO by running the SETUP.EXE file. Note that the multiple DISK files serve to break the kit up into diskette-sized components so you can distribute the ECO to individual users on diskettes. After expansion, simply copy the contents of each DISK directory to a similarly labeled diskette. Installation Procedure ---------------------- 1. Extract the contents of TLWE0230.EXE into a temporary directory by performing the following tasks. If this ECO Kit has already been extracted into a shared area, or to diskettes, go to step 2. a. Exit to MS-DOS, if applicable, or just launch an MS-DOS window. b. Create a temporary directory (for example, C:\TLPATCH). C:> MD TLPATCH c. Set your current directory to the temporary directory. C:> CD TLPATCH d. Copy the self-extracting file TLWE0230.EXE to the temporary directory. e. Execute the self-extracting file. Be sure to include the file extension in the command. C:\TLPATCH> TLWE0230.EXE The following files are created in the temporary directory: TLWE0230.CVR DISK1.EXE DISK2.EXE f. Execute the first self-extracting DISK file. The /D qualifier is required for the creation of subdirectories. C:\TLPATCH> DISK1 /D g. Execute the second self-extracting DISK file using the /D qualifier to create subdirectories. C:\TLPATCH> DISK2 /D The ECO installation kit has been created in the subdirectories \DISK1 and \DISK2 in your temporary directory. i. Return to your Windows operating system to install the ECO. 2. Complete the ECO installation by executing the command sequence below that is appropriate for your operating system: a.) for Windows, Windows for Workgroups, and Windows NT V3.X b.) for Windows 95 and Windows NT V4.0 Setup will determine if TeamLinks is installed as a Network Shared Copy or as a Local Copy and will patch the necessary files accordingly. NOTE: In the case of a Network Shared Copy, once the network files have been updated with this ECO, re-install TeamLinks on each client PC by running the normal SETUP.EXE file located in the SETUP directory of the Network Shared Copy. A.) From Windows, Windows for Workgroups or Windows NT 3.X i. Prior to running the patch installation, shut down ALL applications that may be running, except of course, for the Program Manager. ii. Select the Run command from the File pulldown menu. iii. Enter the full path of the SETUP.EXE program located in the temporary directory you created in step 1. Command Line: C:\TLPATCH\DISK1\SETUP.EXE iv. Follow the prompts on the screen to complete the installation. B.) From Windows 95 or Windows NT V4.0 i. Prior to running the patch installation, shut down ALL applications that may be running. ii. Select the Run command from the Start menu. iii. Enter the full path of the SETUP.EXE program located in the temporary directory you created in step 1 then click OK. Open: C:\TLPATCH\DISK1\SETUP.EXE iv. Follow the prompts on the screen to complete the installation. ALL-IN-1, CDA, DEC, Digital, MailWorks, PATHWORKS, TeamLinks, TeamRoute, and OpenVMS are trademarks of Digital Equipment Corporation.
