ETHERWORKS 50KIT260 Fast EtherWORKS PCI 10/100 DE500 Drivers ECO Summary

Copyright (c) Digital Equipment Corporation 1996. All rights reserved. PRODUCT: Digital Fast EtherWORKS PCI 10/100 (DE500) Drivers V2.6 OP/SYS: MS-DOS, Netware, OS/2, SCO UNIX, Windows for Workgroups, Windows NT, Windows 95 SOURCE: Digital Equipment Corporation ECO INFORMATION: ECO Kit Name: 50KIT260 ECO Kits Superseded by This ECO Kit: 50KIT25A ECO Kit Approximate Size: 1,762 Blocks (VMS) 902,000 Bytes (DOS) System Reboot Necessary: Yes ECO KIT SUMMARY: An ECO kit exists for Digital Fast EtherWORKS PCI 10/100 (DE500) Drivers. The following drivers for the DE500 Network Interface Card are provided in this kit: Microsoft LAN Manager for DOS and OS/2 NDIS 2 MAC Driver for DOS and OS/2 NetWare ODI Client and Server Drivers PATHWORKS Drivers SCO UNIX Driver Windows 95 Windows for Workgroups Windows NT (3.5x) Drivers for Alpha AXP, Intel, MIPS, and PowerPC Driver changes: Changes since V2.5a: o All drivers updated for potential hang of receive process during receive overflow for DE500-AA (this did not effect DE500-XA). The revisions of drivers on this kit are MINIMUM acceptable for DE500-AA. Older revisions are acceptable for DE500-XA only. o Windows for Workgroups setup file (oemsetup.inf) modified to add support for DE425 and 21142-based on-board controllers for NDIS3. This setup file supports only DE500 for NDIS2 and 16-bit ODI drivers. For NDIS3 (enhanced mode), this setup file supports DE425, DE434, DE435, DE450, DE500, and 21142-based on-board controllers. o NetWare Server driver updated to support Client 32 and Green River Release (NetWare 4.11). o EZWORKS updated. o MSLANMAN.OS2 subdirectory eliminated (NDIS2 OS/2 driver located at ndis2\os2\de500.os2). Changes since V2.4: o EZWORKS added Win95 installation capability for NDIS3, NDIS2, and 16-bit ODI client drivers. o Native DLL for PATHWORKS added. o SCO MDI driver added. o Win95 driver added, along with Win95 setup file (de500.inf). o Windows NT drivers changed significantly. The V2.4 kit used DC21X4 drivers, which supported the DE425, DE434/435, DE450, and DE500. The V2.5a kit uses DE500 drivers, which support only the DE500. The Windows NT setup file (oemsetnt) was changed to reflect this. The new DE500 drivers are optimized for the DE500 hardware. Changes with previous versions: o NetWare DOS ODI Client Driver - This driver conforms to v4.0 of the Novell ODI Specification: 16-Bit DOS Client HSMs dated August 1, 1994 (P/N: 107-000054-001) - You may load the DOS driver in upper memory to free up conventional memory in a system. - A change in the DOS ODI specification requires that a current version of LSL.COM be used with the NetWare DOS ODI Client Driver. Use version 2.11 or later of LSL.COM o NetWare 3/4 ODI Server Driver - This driver conforms to v3.2 of the Novell Open Data-Link Interface (ODI) specification. o NDIS 2.01 DOS Driver - You may load the DOS driver in upper memory to free up conventional memory in a system. INSTALLATION NOTES: This ECO kit contains PC based files in a self-extracting format. Follow the steps below for using these files: 1. Copy 50KIT260.EXE onto your PC. 2. Expand 50KIT260.EXE to a blank diskette (as shown) or an empty directory. C:\TMP>50KIT260 -d A:\ This will expand the file into its individual components with directory structure intact and place them on the diskette in drive A:\. *NOTE* Some Driver Installations require the use of Setup Files and look for this information on a diskette. For this reason we suggest expanding the ZIP file to a diskette. This diskette would replace the driver diskette shipped with the EtherWORKS adapter. 3. See README.TXT in the root directory for kit installation information for your platform.
