DCE_ADK-WNT DCERTSNTE1011 DCE Runtime Services Windows NT V1.1 ECO Summary

Copyright (c) Digital Equipment Corporation 1996. All rights reserved. PRODUCT: Digital Distributed Computing Environment (DCE), Version 1.1 OP/SYS: Windows NT V3.51, Service Pack 2 SOURCE: Digital Equipment Corporation ECO INFORMATION: ECO Kit Name: DCERTSNTE1011 ECO Kits Superseded by This ECO Kit: None ECO Kit Approximate Size: DCE1011.ZIP 21883 Blocks (11203845 Bytes) System Reboot Necessary: Yes ECO KIT SUMMARY: An ECO kit exists for Digital Distributed Computing Environment (DCE) Runtime Services for Windows NT V1.1 on Windows NT V3.51 with service pack 2 at a minimum. This kit addresses the following problems: o A Memory exception in RPC stub is fixed. o A runtime deadlock in client processes has been fixed. o In V1.1, an error may occur locating the security server while configuring into a HP R1.1 based cell. This has been fixed. o In V1.1, an error may occur when configuring a client with a clock greatly skewed from the server's clock. This has been fixed. o Two entry points for setting/inquiring the TCP buffer size are now available: rpc__cn_set_sock_buffsize rpc__cn_inq_sock_buffsize o In V1.1, there was a problem configuring OSF DCE R1.1 fileservers into cells with the CDS server on NT. This has been fixed. o Some minor improvements have been made to DCESETUP. The initial view is now tiled and no longer requires the user to choose whether to save the existing log file. Instead the existing log file is appended unless the file menu is used to create a new log. The log file presentation has also been improved. INSTALLATION NOTES: Instructions for unzipping the file: Copy the file to the directory that you want to be the parent directory for the DCE installation files type: pkunzip -d DCE1011.ZIP That will create a subdirectory called dce. Depending on your platform, execute either: dce\alpha\runtime\setup.exe or dce\i86\runtime\setup.exe That will install the Runtime Services kit. During the Runtime Services installation, you will be asked if you want to reboot. You should answer yes. You must first install the Runtime Services V1.1 kit, then reinstall the Application Developer's Kit, Cell Directory Server, and Security Server.
