OpenVMS VAXMANA04_071 VAX V7.1 AUTOGEN ECO Summary

TITLE: OpenVMS VAXMANA04_071 VAX V7.1 AUTOGEN ECO Summary New Kit Date : 12-MAR-2001 Modification Date: Not Applicable Modification Type: Updated Kit Supersedes VAXMANA03_071 NOTE: An OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file is stored on the Internet in a self-expanding compressed file. For OpenVMS savesets, the name of the compressed saveset file will be kit_name.a-dcx_vaxexe for OpenVMS VAX or kit_name.a-dcx_axpexe for OpenVMS Alpha. Once the OpenVMS saveset is copied to your system, expand the compressed saveset by typing RUN kitname.dcx_vaxexe or kitname.dcx_alpexe. For PCSI files, once the PCSI file is copied to your system, rename the PCSI file to kitname-dcx_axpexe.pcsi, then it can be expanded by typing RUN kitname-dcx_axpexe.pcsi. The resultant file will be the PCSI installation file which can be used to install the ECO. Copyright (c) Compaq Computer Corporation 2001. All rights reserved. OP/SYS: OpenVMS VAX COMPONENT: AUTOGEN SOURCE: Compaq Computer Corporation ECO INFORMATION: ECO Kit Name: VAXMANA04_071 ECO Kits Superseded by This ECO Kit: VAXMANA03_071 ECO Kit Approximate Size: 810 Blocks Kit Applies To: OpenVMS VAX V7.1 System/Cluster Reboot Necessary: No Rolling Re-boot Supported: Information not available Installation Rating: INSTALL_3 3 - To be installed on all systems running the listed versions of OpenVMS which are experiencing the problems described. Kit Dependencies: The following remedial kit(s) must be installed BEFORE installation of this kit: None In order to receive all the corrections listed in this kit, the following remedial kits should also be installed: None ECO KIT SUMMARY: An ECO kit exists for AUTOGEN on OpenVMS VAX V7.1. This kit addresses the following problems: PROBLEMS ADDRESSED IN VAXMANA04_071 KIT: o The previous kit VAXMANA03_071 was misssing 1 image, AGEN$FEEDBACK.EXE, that was shipped with the VAXMANA02_071 ECO kit. Images Affected: AGEN$FEEDBACK.EXE PROBLEMS ADDRESSED IN VAXMANA03_071 KIT: o The SYSMAN security profile is supposed to be identical on all nodes in a cluster that uses the same security environment. In some instances, however, SYSMAN uses the authorized privileges from the UAF instead of the locally set privileges on some nodes. Images Affected: [SYSLIB]SMI$SHR.EXE Problems Addressed in the VAXMANA02_071 Kit: o The SYSMAN security profile is supposed to be identical on all nodes in a cluster that use the same security environment. However, SYSMAN could use the authorize privileges from the UAF, instead of the locally set privileges on some nodes. For example, for a cluster named CLUSTER, node NODE1 should have the same privilege settings as another node in the cluster, NODE2. SYSMAN> set env/clus %SYSMAN-I-ENV, current command environment: Clusterwide on local cluster Username SYSTEM (*** will be used on non-local nodes) SYSMAN> show profile SYSMAN-I-DEFDIR, default directory on node NODE2 -- SYS$SYSROOT:[SYSMGR] %SYSMAN-I-DEFPRIV, process privileges on node NODE2 -- TMPMBX OPER NETMBX %SYSMAN-I-DEFDIR, default directory on node NODE1 -- SYS$SYSROOT:[SYSMGR] %SYSMAN-I-DEFPRIV, process privileges on node NODE1 -- CMKRNL CMEXEC CMEXEC SYSNAM GRPNAM ALLSPOOL IMPERSONATE DIAGNOSE LOG_IO GROUP ACNT PRMCEB PRMMBX PSWAPM ALTPRI SETPRV TMPMBX WORLD MOUNT OPER EXQUOTA NETMBX VOLPRO PHY_IO BUGCHK PRMGBL SYSGBL PFNMAP SHMEM SYSPRV BYPASS SYSLCK SHARE UPGRADE DOWNGRADE GRPPRV READALL IMPORT AUDIT SECURITY Images(s) Affected: [SYSLIB]SMI$SHR.EXE Problems Addressed in the VAXMANA01_071 Kit: o A 6000-class VAX machine that booted off a DSSI disk kept getting into the DOSD code. The system then concluded that the configuration could not support DOSD and terminated at TESTFILES. Member disks of a shadowed boot disk were tested for DOSD support, before the configuration was tested for support eligibility. The problem appeared to be complicated more because DUMPFILE_DEVICE was defined to the string "SYS$SYSDEVICE:". INSTALLATION NOTES: No reboot is necessary after successful installation of the kit.
