OpenVMS VAXCLIU03_061 VAX V6.1 SET/SHOW ECO Summary

NOTE: An OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file is stored on the Internet in a self-expanding compressed file. The name of the compressed file will be kit_name-dcx_vaxexe for OpenVMS VAX or kit_name-dcx_axpexe for OpenVMS Alpha. Once the file is copied to your system, it can be expanded by typing RUN compressed_file. The resultant file will be the OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file which can be used to install the ECO. Copyright (c) Digital Equipment Corporation 1994, 1997. All rights reserved. OP/SYS: OpenVMS VAX COMPONENTS: CLIUTL - SET.EXE SHOW.EXE SOURCE: Digital Equipment Corporation ECO INFORMATION: ECO Kit Name: VAXCLIU03_061 ECO Kits Superseded by This ECO Kit: VAXCLIU02_070 (V6.1 Only) VAXCLIU01_070 (V6.1 Only) VAXCLIU01_062 (V6.1 Only) VAXCLIU02_061 ECO Kit Approximate Size: 715 Blocks Kit Applies To: OpenVMS VAX V6.1 System/Cluster Reboot Necessary: No Installation Rating: 3 - To be installed on all systems running the listed versions of OpenVMS which are experiencing the problems described. NOTE: In order to receive the full fixes listed in this kit, the following remedial kits also need to be installed: VAXSHAD09_061 for OpenVMS VAX V6.1 only VAXVERI01_071 for OpenVMS VAX V6.1 only ECO KIT SUMMARY: An ECO kit exists for the DCL commands 'SET' and 'SHOW' on OpenVMS VAX V6.1. This kit addresses the following problems: Problems Addressed in the VAXCLIU03_061 Kit: o This problem was originally fixed in the VAXCLIU02_070 remedial kit, but this is a new problem that has the same effect. This kit fixes the new problem. When doing a SHOW PROCESS /CONTINUOUS command in a constrained working set, it is possible to get a PGFIPLHI bugcheck. The problem occurs because a reference is made at elevated IPL, to one of several data cells located in pageable memory. Problems Addressed in the VAXCLIU02_070 Kit for OpenVMS VAX V6.1: o When doing a SHOW PROCESS/CONTINUOUS command in a constrained working set, it is possible to get a PGFIPLHI bugcheck. Problems Addressed in the VAXCLIU01_070 Kit for OpenVMS VAX V6.1: o A DCL 'SHOW PROCESS/CONTINUOUS' command can cause a system crash if the process being shown has already been deleted. Problems Addressed in the VAXCLIU01_062 Kit for OpenVMS VAX V6.1: o The index file of a disk can become corrupted. Closer examination of the index file will show that a large number of blocks in the index file, at contiguous VBNs from the start of the file, will have two words corrupted in the file at offsets 0x3a and 0x1FE. These correspond to the locations of checksum1 and checksum2 in a volume home block (homeblock). NOTE: In order to receive this full fix, the VAXVERI01_071 ECO kit must also be installed on your system. Problems Addressed in the VAXCLIU02_061 ECO Kit: o The DCL command 'SHOW DEVICE/FULL' outputs "unknown" for the tape density for a TF86 tape drive. o When a RAID shadow set is very large, the "percent copied" value can be more than 100%. o The number of free blocks shown by a DCL 'SHOW DEVICE' command for DFS (Distributed File Service) mounted disks is not available and is returned as -1. o An ACCVIO occurs with RF disks if they are not finished initializing when a DCL 'SHOW DEVICE' command is issued. o If the DCL command 'SHOW SYSTEM/IDENT' is issued with additional selection qualifiers, the '/IDENT' qualifier is ignored. INSTALLATION NOTES: The system does not need to be rebooted after this kit is installed. However, if you have other nodes in your OpenVMS VMScluster, they should be rebooted or you should install this kit on each system in order to make use of the new image(s).
