PLY_SMF SMFSE02012 Sequential Media Filesystem V1.2 ECO Summary

NOTE: An OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file is stored on the Internet in a self-expanding compressed file. The name of the compressed file will be kit_name-dcx_vaxexe for OpenVMS VAX or kit_name-dcx_axpexe for OpenVMS Alpha. Once the file is copied to your system, it can be expanded by typing RUN compressed_file. The resultant file will be the OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file which can be used to install the ECO. Copyright (c) Digital Equipment Corporation 1996, 1997. All rights reserved. PRODUCT: POLYCENTER Sequential Media Filesystem for OpenVMS (SMF, SMFS), Version 1.2 OP/SYS: OpenVMS Alpha, Versions 6.2, 6.2-1H1, 6.2-1H2, 6.2-1H3 OpenVMS VAX, Versions 6.1, 6.2 COMPONENT: SMFS$MXAACP SOURCE: Digital Equipment Corporation ECO INFORMATION: ECO Kit Name: SMFSE02012 ECO Kits Superseded by This ECO Kit: SMFSE01012 ECO Kit Approximate Size: 765 Blocks Kit Applies To: SMFS V1.2 OpenVMS VAX V6.1 - V6.2 OpenVMS Alpha V6.2 System/Cluster Reboot Necessary: No ECO KIT SUMMARY: An ECO kit exists for SMFS V1.2 on OpenVMS VAX V6.1 through V6.2 and OpenVMS Alpha V6.2. This kit addresses the following problems: Problems Addressed in the SMFSE02012 Kit: o Under certain rare circumstances with a heavy load, a file may be created at the beginning of a tape rather than at the end of the tape, resulting in the loss of the files which were previously on the tape. Problems Addressed in the SMFSE01012 Kit: o If end-of-tape is reached while writing a file on a drive which is in a robotic jukebox, SMFS may request that a tape which is outside of the jukebox be loaded in the drive. o DCSC (StorageTek robotics) drives are not properly deallocated after file operations. Eventually all drives will become allocated to the SMFS ACP process, until the MX device is dismounted and remounted. INSTALLATION NOTES: The system/cluster does not need to be rebooted after this kit is installed. However, after installing this kit, all SMFS devices (MXcu: devices) must be dismounted and remounted.
