RTR V3.1C RTRVVME03C31 Reliable Transaction Router VAX ECO Summary

Copyright (c) Digital Equipment Corporation 1997. All rights reserved. PRODUCT: Reliable Transaction Router V3.1C for OpenVMS VAX (RTR) OP/SYS: OpenVMS VAX SOURCE: Digital Equipment Corporation ECO INFORMATION: ECO Kit Name: RTRVVME03C31 (DEC-VAXVMS-RTR-V0301-C142-1.PCSI) ECO Kits Superseded by This ECO Kit: None ECO Kit Approximate Size: 5222 Blocks Kit Applies To: RTR V3.1C OpenVMS VAX V6.1 or higher NOTE: RTRVVME03C31 is a complete V3.1C kit. A previous version of RTR V3.1 does not need to be installed before installing this kit. However, a valid license must be installed. System/Cluster Reboot Necessary: No Installation Rating: Not Available NOTE: In order to receive the full fixes listed in this kit, the following remedial kits also need to be installed: None ECO KIT SUMMARY: An ECO kit exists for Reliable Transaction Router on OpenVMS VAX V6.1 or higher. This kit addresses the following problems: o A problem with the algorithm used to scan RTR backend nodes for journals belonging to nodes that were currently available could cause the RTR ACP process to enter a CPU-bound loop in certain multiple facility configurations. o Failed connection attempts to remote DECnet nodes previously resulted in repeated messages being written to the RTR log files (the message text concerns an XTI event requiring attention). These unnecessary messages have been removed. INSTALLATION NOTES: Before the installation of this ECO, RTR must be stopped. The system does not need to be rebooted after this kit is installed. The Reliable Transaction Router installation procedure uses the POLYCENTER Software Installation Utility (PCSI). For details on using PCSI, refer to the OpenVMS System Manager's Manual, Section "Installing with the POLYCENTER Software Installation Utility". The logical name PCSI$SOURCE is used to define the location of the software kits you want to install. For example, if the Reliable Transaction Router software is located in DISK1:[KITS], enter the following at the DCL prompt (or include the line in the system manager's login command file): $ DEFINE PCSI$SOURCE DISK1:[KITS] When running the installation procedure for Reliable Transaction Router, you can choose whether to install the ODBC Over RTR Oracle7 Server. This is an RTR server used for supporting ODBC-enabled applications on Windows. You should not install the ODBC Over RTR Oracle7 Server unless you already have Oracle7 installed. To start the installation, type the command:- $ PRODUCT INSTALL RTR You will see a display similar to the following:- The following product has been selected: DEC VAXVMS RTR V3.1-D135 [Available] Do you want to continue? [YES] Press . You may safely accept the installation default options. If you are using RTR in a cluster, you need to execute the following command @SYS$STARTUP:RTR$STARTUP on all nodes in the cluster other than the installation node. This command will be executed by the installation procedure on the installation node.
