NOTE: An OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file is stored on the Internet in a self-expanding compressed file. The name of the compressed file will be kit_name-dcx_vaxexe for OpenVMS VAX or kit_name-dcx_axpexe for OpenVMS Alpha. Once the file is copied to your system, it can be expanded by typing RUN compressed_file. Please note that if you are NOT required to reboot your system after running PCSA$CONFIG, you may still have to reboot to use the LAST, LANS, LAD, or LADC drivers installed by this kit. ECO KIT SUMMARY: An ECO kit exists for PATHWORKS for OpenVMS V4.2-1 on OpenVMS VAX V5.4 through V6.2 or OpenVMS Alpha V1.5 through V6.2. The PATHWORKS for VMS V4.2-1 ECO Kit #9 supersedes all previous ECO releases of PATHWORKS for VMS V4.2-1. This ECO contains the fixes described below: o Regularly it appears as if the NetBios process hangs. When a PCSA Broadcast messages is issued, a DEVICE TIMEOUT occurs. o File locking problems with V4 file service alias (VMScluster). o Pcfs_server process dumps with (VCB dispose) DISPOSE error : free failed. o Mutex deletion problem. Pcfs_server process crashes with error messages %DFS-E-MTSMTX_DELMUTEX, Failure deleting mutex -DFS-E-MTSMTX_MUTEXNOT, Mutex not found. o Free channel problem. File server crashes when it tries to release the channel, that was preliminary reserved unsuccessfully. o File server crash at Program Counter 0002AFA2. File server crashes when it tries to use some pointer after unsuccesful memory allocation. This ECO also incorporates all of the fixes in previous ECO releases. ECO Kit #3: o NBNS.EXE support on AXP for TCP/IP Networks. o Server crash at PC = 80000010. o Fix to excessive DECnet logical links in a cluster reroute environment. o REPLACE/R command fix. o PCSA SHOW FILE SERV/AUTHORI return status fix. o Include new version of PCX$SERVER.COM. o PCFS$EXTENDED_CHANNELS logical output bug fix. o PCSA MAIL server for virgin users' fix. o Fix to unknown negotiate protocol crash server problem. o Capable of displaying 2.2 GB Disk size. o Fix to duplicated ACE's problem. o Fix to NETBIOS crash at PC = 3248. o Fix to disk quota, disk full problems. o Fix to PCSA simultaneously ADDing USER problem. o Support for configuring # of workstations in an environment > 2.2 GB memory. o Executive error handler fix for NETBIOS on AXP. o Fix to redundant SYS$DEASSGN error messages in the server log file. ECO Kit #4: o Session listener stalling problem. o Crash at PC=80000010. o PCFS server crash due to fatal error code returned from NETBIOSSHR. o Delete files in the spooled directory on OpenVMS V6.0. o Set Dir error code return problem. o Stale XAB from VMS-MAIL. o Archive Attribute. o Print Job Name and File name problem. o PCSA STOP FILE CONN/ID=xxx server crash. o File modification date/time error. o Server crash due to PCFS_SERVER.LOG file version = 32767. o PCDISK support directory names with extension. o KITINSTAL.COM fix to check ident for "ECO" releases. o Merge PCFS$CHAN.EXE, and PCFS$SYS_STB_SHR.EXE with PCFS_SERVER.EXE. o Ability to Disallow renaming a file in a read only service. o Ability to allow operation under OpenVMS V6.0 on VAX having 1 Gigabyte or more memory. ECO Kit #5: o Wrong error code returned for file open. o Mutex acquisition error. o Memory leak problem for OS/2 clients. o Ability to display 4GB of disk size in a disk striping set environment. o Allow 2048 concurrent open files for printing. o Ability to reroute TCP/IP client requests through DECnet in a DECnet cluster environment. ECO Kit #6: o DOS DELTREE *.* command failure if issued after the DOS XCOPY command. o NETBIOS process crash with "Exceeded byte count" error. o LANS driver crash at PC=LANSdriver+02F59. o Server crash due to invalid SMB packet. o Fail to close non-stream files after disconnecting clients. o Unable to queue print files from PATHWORKS MAIL server. o File server hung when broadcasting for expired password. o Disallow non-privileged user to delete print jobs from PC's. o Allow DOS MOVE command to move directories to a sub-directory. o Restrict cache size to 50K pages for VAX and cache buffer size to 8K bytes in configurator. o Message display on Alpha during the installation for the server to startup on TCP/IP network. ECO Kit #7: o Intermittent problems when connecting using TCP/IP. File Manager shows only one file after reconnecting. o Server process crashes after "deadlock detected" errors. o Server process crashes with SCPROTOCOL error. o PATHWORKS does not honor workstation limit (when using TCP/IP) o Server process crashes when operator issues PCSA STOP CONNECTIONS command in a cluster environment. o Server process crashes randomly (references deallocated data structure). o NETBIOS process crashes with "Name deleted on the fly" message. o System crash at LASTDRIVER+0317B. o VMS - Pathworks Mail problem - After installing VMS MAIL patch cannot use PCSA Mail Forwarding. o Server process crashes in TCONNECT. o SYSTEM-F-BADPARAM errors will no longer be written to the PCFS_SERVER.LOG file when TCP/IP clients disconnect. o CD-ROM devices without a revision date will use the creation date. ECO Kit #8: o Password history/dictionary not checked when using NET PASSWORD from DOS prompt. o File server crashes during disconnection process. o "PCSA ADD WORKSTATION" command doesn't work under VMS 6.0 and later. o File server crashes in in-line function GET_LWE o PSCA server fails on restart due to impossibility to bind with TCP/IP stack. o PCDSHR-F-NOMEM ERROR while registering a PATHWORKS user using PCSA INSTALLATION NOTES: Install this kit with the VMSINSTAL utility by logging into the SYSTEM account, and typing the following at the DCL prompt: @SYS$UPDATE:VMSINSTAL PCSA_E09042 [location of the saveset] The saveset location may be a tape drive, or a disk directory that contains the kit saveset.
