Copyright (c) Digital Equipment Corporation 1995. All rights reserved. PRODUCT: VAX Message Router X.400 Gateway Version 2.3 OP/SYS: OpenVMX VAX SOURCE: Digital Equipment Corporation ECO INFORMATION: ECO Kit Name: MRXECO04023 ECO Kits Superseded by This ECO Kit: MRXECO03023 ECO Kit Approximate Size: MRXECO04023.A 504 Blocks MRXECO04023.B 17262 Blocks Total of 2 files - 17766 Blocks System Reboot Necessary: No ECO KIT SUMMARY: An ECO kit exists for VAX Message Router X.400 Gateway on OpenVMS VAX V5.5-2 or later. The MRX Release Notes provide a complete explanation of each problem fixed. This kit addresses the following problems: o ALL-IN-1 IOS X.400 addressing form no longer included in MRX. o Multiple message directories now work in VAXclusters. o MRX now uses full device names when multiple message directory functionality is enabled. o MRXMAN SET AREA command no longer causes MRX to crash if multi- ple message directories have not been configured. o MRXMAN no longer crashes if an invalid device name is specified with the MRXMAN SET AREA or SHOW AREA commands. o MRX no longer rejects messages with no recipient in the To: Field. o MRX now validates only the O/R name of the originator of ser- vice messages. o MRX now tags the PRMD attribute in service messages correctly. o MRX now records all organization name attributes in the MRX log file. o Multiple consecutive at signs in reverse lookup fields no longer cause MRX to crash. o MRX now correctly translates compound characters. o MRX now correctly processes domain-defined attributes that contain at signs. o MRX now correctly translates backslash, circumflex, and grave accent characters in ISO6937 messages. o MRX now correctly interprets repeated carriage return charac- ters. o MRX now correctly converts Icelandic characters. o MRX now behaves correctly when NORECOVERY is set. o MRXMAN now displays correct values for negotiated window size and checkpoint size. o An incorrect loopback address no longer causes MRX to stop. o Failing to delete a record no longer causes loop conditions. o MRX now always sets the nonReceiptNotification bit if the re- ceiptNotification bit is set. o Maximum thread id number increased. INSTALLATION NOTES: In order to use this kit, you must complete the installation procedure described in the VAX Message Router X.400 Gateway Installation Guide. Enter the following command from the SYSTEM account to execute VMSINSTAL and install ECO4: $ @SYS$UPDATE:VMSINSTAL MRXECO04023 OPTIONS N where is the name of the device where you want to install MRX. If you have previously installed and configured MRX V2.3, you do not need to reconfigure ECO4 for MRX V2.3. If you have not previously installed and configured MRX V2.3, you need to complete the installation and configuration procedure described in the VAX Message Router X.400 Gateway Installation Guide and the VAX Message Router X.400 Gateway Management Guide. WARNING When you upgrade to ECO4 for MRX V2.3 and start MRX for the first time, MRX modifies the MRX$MSG_DIRS.DAT file to use full device names. Note that MRX does not modify the MRX$MSG_DIRS.DAT file until you start MRX. If you install ECO4 for MRX V2.3 and then try to configure MRX before ever starting MRX, you will cause problems and MRX will not be able to update the MRX$MSG_DIRS.DAT file. If you need to reconfigure MRX, the correct procedure is as follows: 1. Install ECO4 for MRX V2.3 2. Start MRX 3. Stop MRX 4. Configure MRX 5. Start MRX For more information, see Section 2.2.2 of the MRX Release Notes. Note that this warning only applies when you upgrade to ECO4 for MRX V2.3, and does not apply to new installations of MRX.
