OSMS 3.3 OSMSVTPE01033 Optical Storage Management VAX ECO Summary

Copyright (c) Digital Equipment Corporation 1995. All rights reserved. PRODUCT: Optical Storage Management Software for OpenVMS VAX (DEC OSMS) OP/SYS: OpenVMS VAX SOURCE: Digital Equipment Corporation ECO INFORMATION: ECO Kit Name: OSMSVTPE01033 ECO Kits Superseded by This ECO Kit: None ECO Kit Approximate Size: 4160 Blocks NOTE: Saveset name is LSTARV033.A Kit Applies To: DEC OSMS V3.3 OpenVMS VAX V5.5-2, V6.0, V6.1, V6.2 System Reboot Necessary: Yes ECO KIT SUMMARY: An ECO kit exists for DEC OSMS on OpenVMS VAX V5.5-2 through V6.2. This kit addresses the following problems: Problems addressed in the OSMSVTPE01033 Kit: o Numerous cluster corrections in JKDRIVER. Problems were found which caused command timeouts, mount verifies, and cluster crashes. NOTE: OpenVMS VAX V6.1 or beyond is the preferred platform for cluster support due to MSCP Server limitations in earlier OpenVMS versions. o Various corrections in JUDRIVER for HSC and HSJ compatibility. NOTE: HSC High Performance Software V8.43 or V8.5 is required for cluster support with a minimum version of OpenVMS VAX V6.1. HSJxx support is also available with V2.5 of HSJ firmware. Controller failover is not supported with any HSC or HSJ device. WORM media is not supported in any HSx configuration. There is no HSC50 support. The drive data rate is very low for the entire HSx family of controllers due to architectural issues in the controllers. This is not expected to change and may limit the usefulness of these interconnects significantly. HSJ's will perform better than HSC's. o Several changes were made to properly support OpenVMS VAX 6.2. o Control of the SCSI robot was moved to the RZDRIVER. o RW531 (32 slot, 2 drive) and RW532 (64 slot, 4 drive) were added to the device tables. NOTE: Dual picker mode is not supported in this release. Please refer to the Release Notes included with this ECO for additional information. INSTALLATION NOTES: In order for the corrections in this kit to take effect, the system must be rebooted.
