ECO KIT SUMMARY:
An ECO kit exists for DECnet/OSI V5.8 for OpenVMS VAX on OpenVMS VAX V6.1.
This kit addresses the following problems:
Corrections for Base Components
o Image SYS$SYSTEM:DECNET_LOC_REGISTER.EXE
- Correct entry on "Local" file for cluster alias
session backtranslation.
o Image SYS$LOADABLE_IMAGES:LES$LES_V30.EXE
- SMP fix prevents LES datastructures from being corrupted.
Add additional IOLOCK8 even though invoked at IPL8.
o Image SYS$LOADABLE_IMAGES:NET$ALIAS.EXE
- Prevent more then one alias with the same address.
- Fix timing problem on disable that caused a loop.
- Fix the enable to insure that the new link ids were added.
- Prevent hang on enable when 2 nodes were enabled at
the same time.
- Fix a dead lock by removing a blocking AST.
o Image SYS$MANAGER:NET$CONFIGURE.COM
- Change default for OSI Transport Template
"Use CLNS Error Report" True. Default to
False on multi-circuit configurations only.
o Image SYS$LOADABLE_IMAGES:NET$DRIVER.EXE
- Initialize user_data2 (SCL Flags) in VCRP prior to
calling backtranslate for ACP$CONTROL.
- Prevent crash in SCH$POSTEF when a process tears down
the P0 address region and leaves outstanding IO.
- Fix incoming disconnect crash with X500 application
with QIO in validate UCB.
- Fix pool leak where VCRPs fail to be deallocated.
o Image SYS$SYSTEM:NET$EVENT_DISPATCHER.EXE
- Fix a bug in local optimization for multiple sinks.
o Image SYS$SYSTEM:NET$MOP.EXE
- SET HOST/MOP correct echo on screen display for DS90L.
- Correct timeouts with SET HOST/MOP.
o Image SYS$LOADABLE_IMAGES:NET$OSDRIVER.EXE
- Prevent crash in SCH$POSTEF when a process tears down
the P0 address region and leaves outstanding IO.
- Fix incoming disconnect crash with X.500 application
with QIO in validate UCB.
- Prevent crash on QIO completion if the UCB is invalid,
deallocate the expedited data VCRP.
- Fix possible crash with X.25.
- Fix crash adjusting the receive pool for a very large
number of OSI connections.
- Fix QIO redirect item list corruption.
o Image SYS$LOADABLE_IMAGES:NET$ROUTING_ES.EXE
- Correction for multi-circuit failover.
- Correction for crash on invalid Alias-ID.
- Correction for DDCMP line bounce on padded Phase IV hello.
- Use the Phase V header for maximum NSDU size even for
transport connections to Phase IV nodes. This prevents
lost connections with try-hard on the first retransmit.
- On a single circuit prevent unnecessary probe packets.
- Performance fix for cache on redirects from Phase V router.
o Image SYS$LOADABLE_IMAGES:NET$SESSION_CONTROL.EXE
- Correct system crash with session disconnects.
- Correction for crash with OSI expedited data.
- Add a flag for "Server In Use" during structure creation.
- Set the PID field in the create process structure.
- Close SYSUAF.DAT after account lookup.
- Fix NET$ACP process space memory leak.
- Change network server process image from DCL to LOGINOUT.
- ConvertDNSNameTASK changed to execute all pending requests
before suspending. If several requests came in when
the task was already running, there would be a delay and
the processing never caught up.
- Second fix to prevent PGFILPHI crash in GetLocalNodeInfo
- Report delete session control port to I/O-status
in mailbox for 3rd party disconnect.
- Prevent crash on session ports in the WFCNTOCMP state.
- Server processes are not correctly being reused.

- Correction for "try hard" on failover.
- Fix SMP crash.

- Fix VOTS QIO connect accept to negotiate.
- Fix OSI transport management attribute setting to prevent
changes while in the enable state.
- Fix for roundtrip delta time of 0 on fast CPUs and to
continually sample the round-trip delay.
- Fix bug for timer=120 secs.
- Fix shutdown crash in deallocate TLQs.
- Fix race condition crash.
- Fix memory leak with X.500 and RFC1006.
- Fix active connection count becoming negative.
- Fix crash c_retrans_ak.
- Fix throughput on error recovery path.

- Correction for X.25 DTE NCL script.

- Fix shutdown of VAX P.S.I. reports "insufficient
dynamic memory".

INSTALLATION NOTES:
This installation does NOT purge any new or modified files.
Install this kit with the VMSINSTAL utility by logging into the
SYSTEM account, and typing the following at the DCL prompt:
@SYS$UPDATE:VMSINSTAL DNVOSI_ECO05058 [location of the saveset]
In order for the corrections to take effect the system must be
rebooted. If you are a member of a VAXcluster, the entire cluster
must be rebooted. You may postpone rebooting if it is not convenient
for you to do so now; however, the new drivers will not take effect
until after a reboot.
