RTR V3.1C RTRAVME01C31 Reliable Transaction Router VAX ECO Summary

NOTE: An OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file is stored on the Internet in a self-expanding compressed file. The name of the compressed file will be kit_name-dcx_vaxexe for OpenVMS VAX or kit_name-dcx_axpexe for OpenVMS Alpha. Once the file is copied to your system, it can be expanded by typing RUN compressed_file. The resultant file will be the OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file which can be used to install the ECO. Title: *RTR V3.1C] RTRAVME01C31 Reliable Transaction Router (VAX) ECO Summary ******************************************************************************** Copyright (c) Digital Equipment Corporation 1997. All rights reserved. PRODUCT: Reliable Transaction Router for OpenVMS Alpha (RTR) OP/SYS: OpenVMS Alpha SOURCE: Digital Equipment Corporation ECO INFORMATION: ECO Kit Name: RTRAVME01C31 ECO Kits Superseded by This ECO Kit: None ECO Kit Approximate Size: 9696 Blocks Kit Applies To: RTR V3.1C OpenVMS Alpha V6.1, V6.2, V7.0, V7.1 System/Cluster Reboot Necessary: No ECO KIT SUMMARY: An ECO kit exists for Reliable Transaction Router on OpenVMS Alpha V6.1 through V7.1. This kit addresses the following problems: Problems addressed in the RTRAVME01C31 kit: o Failed connection attempts to remote DECnet nodes used to result in repeated messages being written to the RTR log file. The message text was concerning an XTI event requiring attention. These unnecessary messages have been removed. o A problem with the algorithm used to scan RTR backend nodes for journals belonging to nodes that were currently available could cause the RTR ACP process to enter a CPU-bound loop in certain multiple facility configurations. NOTE: Please see the Release Notes supplied with this ECO for more details regarding RTR V3.1C. The Release Notes can be extracted from the PCSI file using the following commands: DEFINE PCSI$SOURCE pcsi_file_location DEFINE PCSI$DESTINATION pcsi_file_location PRODUCT EXTRACT RELEASE_NOTES RTR/FILE=RTR_RELNOTES.TXT INSTALLATION NOTES: The Reliable Transaction Router installation procedure uses the POLYCENTER Software Installation Utility (PCSI). For details on using PCSI, refer to the OpenVMS System Manager's Manual, Section "Installing with the POLYCENTER Software Installation Utility". The PCSI kit name is DEC-AXPVMS-RTR-V0301-C142-1.PCSI The logical name PCSI$SOURCE is used to define the location of the software kits you want to install. For example, if the Reliable Transaction Router software is located in DISK1:[KITS], enter the following at the DCL prompt (or include the line in the system manager's login command file): $ DEFINE PCSI$SOURCE DISK1:[KITS] When running the installation procedure for Reliable Transaction Router, you can choose whether to install the ODBC Over RTR Oracle7 Server. This is an RTR server used for supporting ODBC-enabled applications on Windows. You should not install the ODBC Over RTR Oracle7 Server unless you already have Oracle7 installed.
