OpenVMS ALP_KR_E02072 Hangul V7.2/Alpha V7.2-1H1 ECO Summary

TITLE: OpenVMS ALP_KR_E02072 Hangul V7.2/Alpha V7.2-1H1 ECO Summary Modification Date: 26-JUL-2000 Modification Type: New Kit NOTE: An OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file is stored on the Internet in a self-expanding compressed file. For OpenVMS savesets, the name of the compressed saveset file will be kit_name.a-dcx_vaxexe for OpenVMS VAX or kit_name.a-dcx_axpexe for OpenVMS Alpha. Once the OpenVMS saveset is copied to your system, expand the compressed saveset by typing RUN kitname.dcx_vaxexe or kitname.dcx_alpexe. For PCSI files, once the PCSI file is copied to your system, rename the PCSI file to kitname-dcx_axpexe.pcsi, then it can be expanded by typing RUN kitname-dcx_axpexe.pcsi. The resultant file will be the PCSI installation file which can be used to install the ECO. Copyright (c) Compaq Computer Corporation 2000. All rights reserved. PRODUCT: OpenVMS/Hangul Alpha OP/SYS: OpenVMS Alpha SOURCE: Compaq Computer Corporation ECO INFORMATION: ECO Kit Name: ALP_KR_E02072 DEC-AXPVMS-ALP_KR_E02072-V0100--4.PCSI ECO Kits Superseded by This ECO Kit: VMS_A72_UPDATE01-V0100 (Not released through this process) ECO Kit Approximate Size: 2400 Blocks Kit Applies To: OpenVMS/Hangul Alpha V7.2 OpenVMS Alpha V7.2-1H1 System/Cluster Reboot Necessary: Yes Rolling Re-boot Supported: Not Applicable Installation Rating: INSTALL_2 2 - To be installed on Compaq AlphaServer GS160 system running version 7.2 of Compaq OpenVMS/Hangul with Compaq OpenVMS Alpha Version 7.2-1H1 using the following feature(s): Compaq OpenVMS Alpha support for Hard partitions Compaq OpenVMS Galaxy configurations on Compaq AlphaServer GS160 Compaq OpenVMS Resource Affinity Domain (RAD) support for applications Fibre Channel OpenVMS Cluster shared storage interconnect support for Compaq OpenVMS Galaxy configurations A Spinlock Trace Utility Record Management Service locking enhancements Kit Dependencies: The following remedial kit(s) must be installed BEFORE installation of this kit: None In order to receive all the corrections listed in this kit, the following remedial kits should also be installed: None ECO KIT SUMMARY: An ECO kit exists for OpenVMS/Hangul V7.2 on OpenVMS Alpha V7.2-1H1. This kit addresses the following problems: o This kit is installed on Compaq AlphaServer GS160 systems running the Compaq OpenVMS/Hangul Alpha Version 7.2 with Compaq OpenVMS Alpha Version 7.2-1H1. This provides Compaq Open VMS/Hangul Alpha support for the following new functionality: + Hard partitions on Compaq AlphaServer GS160 systems + Compaq OpenVMS Galaxy configuration on Compaq AlphaServer GS160 systems + Compaq OpenVMS Resource Affinity Domain (RAD) support for applications + Fibre Channel OpenVMS Cluster shared storage interconnect support for Compaq OpenVMS Galaxy configurations + A Spinlock Trace Utility + Record Management Service locking enhancements o In the Compaq OpenVMS/Hangul HMAIL utility, starting with Version 7.0, if a user attempts to forward a foreign file, the FORWARD command fails and the user is returned to the HMAIL> prompt. No message of any kind is displayed. HMAIL has been modified to correctly allow forwarding of foreign files. In addition, Compaq OpenVMS/Hangul HMAIL expands KEYNODEF to include keys F6 through F14 as mentioned in HMAIL>HELP DEFINE Parameters. Image(s) Affected: [HSYEXE]HMAIL.EXE [SYSLIB]HMAILSHR.EXE [SYSLIB]HMAILSHRP.EXE [SYSMSG.HANGUL]HMAILMSG.EXE o The Compaq OpenVMS Registry introduced a new DCL command in Compaq OpenVMS Alpha Version 7.2-1, SHOW SERVER, to show the current status of the Compaq OpenVMS Registry on a specified node. As a result, for Compaq OpenVMS/Hangul Alpha Version 7.2 running on Compaq OpenVMS Alpha Version 7.2-1, the SHOW utility only displayed the message number instead of the message if users use the "SHOW SERVER" command to get the status of the server. In addition, Compaq OpenVMS Alpha extends all physical memory up to 76GB in Compaq OpenVMS Alpha Version 7.2-1H1. All physical memory page count fields in SHOW MEMORY are required to be widened. Also, the qualifier /RAD has been added into SHOW PROCESS to display hard affinity domain. To support these new functions, the CLIUTLMSG.EXE image has been updated. Image(s) Affected: [SYSMSG]CLIUTLMSG.EXE [SYSMSG.HANGUL]CLIUTLMSG.EXE o This new DCL provides a fix to a problem in UNSTACK when this command is used to "unstack" back to procedure level zero in BATCH mode. Also, a new lexical for RAD SYI items is introduced in Compaq OpenVMS Alpha Version 7.2-1H1. Compaq OpenVMS/Hangul DCL has been enhanced to support this feature. Image(s) Affected: [SYSEXE]DCL.EXE INSTALLATION NOTES: The images in this kit will not take effect until the system is rebooted. If there are other nodes in the OpenVMS cluster, they are not required to be shut down and rebooted. All trademarks are the property of their respective owners.
