DMQ/VMS CSCPAT_5050 DEC MessageQ V2.0 ECO 2 Summary

Copyright (c) Digital Equipment Corporation 1994. All rights reserved PRODUCT: DECmessageQ for OpenVMS VAX OP/SYS: OpenVMS SOURCE: Digital Customer Support Center ECO INFORMATION: CSCPAT Kit: CSCPAT_5050 V1.2 CSCPAT Kit Size: 8226 blocks Engineering Cross Reference: DMQVAXECO002020 Kit Applies To: DECmessageQ for OpenVMS VAX V2.0 System Reboot Required: NO ECO KIT SUMMARY: An ECO (patch) kit exists for DECmessageQ for OpenVMS VAX V2.0. This kit addresses the following problems in addition to those already addressed in ECO 1. o Corrected a problem with sending a message to queue 999 generating PAMS__BADPARAM o More than 100 Avail/Unavail registrations for a remote group causes SBS Server crash o Corrects five problems with the MRS Server: 1) Dynamic expansion of internal data structures could cause a server crash 2) Increased number of open SAF files to 255 3) SAF_FILES quota now will limit total number of SAF files 4) TARGET_PRESENTATION is now uniformly applied 5) Loss of FIFO when target queue is full o Corrects three problems: 1) Avail/Unavail services causes initialization to enter an endless loop 2) COM Server logging "Duplicate Queue Notification" events 3) LIST_ALL_Q_RESP message does not return tag number o Corrected problem with redelivery of unconfirmed recoverable messages to an MRQ after a client abort. o Corrected a problem with some cross-group messages remaining in the DQF and are not removed until MRS is restarted. Also, corrected a problem with data structure expansion in the MRS Server. o Corrected a problem with the SBS Server generating false sequence gap notification events. o Corrected a problem with the MRS Server where memory writes occurred beyond an array boundary. Also, corrected a problem with the MRS Server attempting to send the same message twice to an MRQ. o Corrected a problem with buffer pool free counts exceeding total buffer counts. o Corrected a problem with the SBS Server not handling soft controller errors from optimized Ethernet broadcasting. o Corrected a problem with losing PAMS timers with negative timer ID's. This caused the MRS Server to lose it's retry timer. o Corrected two problems with the COM Server's switching DECnet connections. The first logs "Detected out of order write QIO completion" messages and the second, the prior link's DECnet I/O channels are not freed. o Corrected a problem with the handling of negative sequence numbers that were passed to the MRS Server by PAMS_CONFIRM_MSG. Prior to this correction, a message sequence number with the sign bit on in the high order longword could cause the MRS Server to either abort with an access violation or to loop indefinitely. INSTALLATION NOTES: You should shutdown all DECmessageQ groups using DECmessageQ for VMS Version 2.0 prior to the ECO kit installation.
