DEC C CC01055 DEC C for OpenVMS Alpha V5.5 ECO Summary

NOTE: An OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file is stored on the Internet in a self-expanding compressed file. The name of the compressed file will be kit_name-dcx_vaxexe for OpenVMS VAX or kit_name-dcx_axpexe for OpenVMS Alpha. Once the file is copied to your system, it can be expanded by typing RUN compressed_file. The resultant file will be the OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file which can be used to install the ECO. Copyright (c) Digital Equipment Corporation 1997. All rights reserved. PRODUCT: DEC C for OpenVMS Alpha OP/SYS: OpenVMS Alpha SOURCE: Digital Equipment Corporation ECO INFORMATION: ECO Kit Name: CC01055 ECO Kits Superseded by This ECO Kit: None ECO Kit Approximate Size: 15624 Blocks Kit Applies To: DEC C for OpenVMS Alpha V5.5 OpenVMS Alpha V6.1 and higher System/Cluster Reboot Necessary: No ECO KIT SUMMARY: An ECO kit exists for DEC C for OpenVMS Alpha V5.5 on OpenVMS Alpha V6.1 and higher. This kit addresses the following problems: o A struct or union type with a member that is a pointer to a qualified version of the containing struct or union type (such as in the starlet header file ) causes the compiler to run indefinitely consuming memory until some sort of system failure occurs if it is compiled with the /debug=symbols command qualifier. o A compilation that requests a listing file (/list) and specifies more than one source file using a comma-separated list may fail with an ACCVIO or may simply omit a section of the listing for the second and subsequent source files. Please see the Release Notes included in this kit for more details. INSTALLATION NOTES: The system does not need to be rebooted after this kit is installed. The installation procedure processing is the same as for the original V5.5-002 kit, the difference being in the content of the executable images for the compiler and its message library. The saveset location can be a tape drive or a disk directory that contains the kit saveset. If the saveset is copied to disk, it must not be renamed.
