OpenVMS AXPCOB01_061 AXP V6.1 DEC$COBRTL ECO Summary

TITLE: OpenVMS AXPCOB01_061 AXP V6.1 DEC$COBRTL ECO Summary NOTE: An OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file is stored on the Internet in a self-expanding compressed file. The name of the compressed file will be kit_name-dcx_vaxexe for OpenVMS VAX or kit_name-dcx_axpexe for OpenVMS Alpha. Once the file is copied to your system, it can be expanded by typing RUN compressed_file. The resultant file will be the OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file which can be used to install the ECO. Copyright (c) Digital Equipment Corporation 1994. All rights reserved. PRODUCT: OpenVMS AXP COMPONENTS: DEC COBOL Run-Time Library (DEC$COBRTL) LIBOTS2 SOURCE: Digital Equipment Corporation ECO INFORMATION: ECO Kit Name: AXPCOB01_061 ECO Kits Superseded by This ECO Kit: None ECO Kit Size: 3420 Blocks Kit Applies To: OpenVMS AXP V6.1, V6.1-1H1 System Reboot Necessary: No ECO KIT SUMMARY: An ECO kit exists for the DEC COBOL Run-Time Library on OpenVMS AXP V6.1 - V6.1-1H1. This kit addresses the following problems: o If you displayed or accepted a COMP-2 item and did not specify CONVERSION, CONVERSION was done anyway. o A soft record lock condition (file status 90) is now reported correctly when an access stream in INPUT mode detects a record locked by a prior stream in I-O mode doing automatic locking. NOTE: This is for Relative and Indexed files. o Format 1 of the ACCEPT and DISPLAY statements now allows the WITH CONVERSION phrase. This syntax is supported in the DEC COBOL V2.1 compiler. o If your application contains any extended ACCEPT or DISPLAY statements and your application displays escape sequences when the cursor is in the lower right corner of the screen, you may see the screen scroll unexpectedly. In an attempt to correct this problem, this version of the DEC COBOL Run Time Library no longer advances to the next line when the cursor is past the rightmost column of the screen and the src-item begins with an escape sequence. Please refer to the "Troubleshooting" section of the DEC COBOL Compiler Release Notes for more information on correcting screen scrolling problems. o If your application performed an ACCEPT WITH CONVERSION of a JUSTIFIED data item, the resulting value was not right-justified. o If your application provides the feature of printing to a local printer - by displaying the escape sequences to enter and exit Printer Controller Mode - and your application contains any extended ACCEPT or DISPLAY statements this version of the DEC COBOL Run-Time Library no longer outputs the cursor movement sequences when Printer Controller Mode is active. These cursor movement sequences were causing problems for some printers, specifically Fujitsu printers. INSTALLATION NOTES: The system does not need to be rebooted after this kit is installed. However, if you have other nodes in your VMScluster, they should be rebooted or install this kit on each system in order to make use of the new image(s). NOTE: The LIBOTS2.EXE image has not changed from previous kits. If you already have DEC COBOL installed on your system, during installation you may be notified that installation of the LIBOTS2.EXE image will be skipped since the identical image is already installed.
