OpenVMS ALPTTDR02_062 Alpha V6.- V6.2-1H3 YSDRIVER ECO Summary

TITLE: OpenVMS ALPTTDR02_062 Alpha V6.- V6.2-1H3 YSDRIVER ECO Summary NOTE: An OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file is stored on the Internet in a self-expanding compressed file. The name of the compressed file will be kit_name-dcx_vaxexe for OpenVMS VAX or kit_name-dcx_axpexe for OpenVMS Alpha. Once the file is copied to your system, it can be expanded by typing RUN compressed_file. The resultant file will be the OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file which can be used to install the ECO. Copyright (c) Compaq Corporation 1995, 1999. All rights reserved. PRODUCT: OpenVMS Alpha COMPONENT: YSDRIVER.EXE SOURCE: Digital Equipment Corporation ECO INFORMATION: ECO Kit Name: ALPTTDR02_062 ECO Kits Superseded by This ECO Kit: ALPTTDR02_070 (for 6.2 - 6.2-1H3 *ONLY*) ALPTTDR01_062 Blocks: 432 blocks Kit Applies To: OpenVMS Alpha V6.2, V6.2-1H1, V6.2-1H2, 6.2-1H3 System/Cluster Reboot Necessary: Yes Rolling Reboot Supported: Yes Installation Rating: INSTALL_3 3 - To be installed on all systems running the listed versions of OpenVMS which are experiencing the problems described. Kit Dependencies: The following remedial kit(s) must be installed BEFORE installation of this kit: None. In order to receive all the corrections listed in this kit, the following remedial kits should also be installed: None. ECO KIT SUMMARY: An ECO kit exists for YSDRIVER/TTDRIVER on OpenVMS Alpha V6.2 through V6.2-1H3. This kit addresses the following problem: Problems Addressed in ALPTTDR02_062: o Two class driver-related problems occurred: 1. While in pasthru mode, loss of synchronization with the class driver occurred during a high volume of single character burst transmits. The high volume of single character burst transmits occurs, for example, when pasting to a DECterm window that has been directed out to the serial port with a SET HOST/DTE. Consequently, the transmit FIFO buffer would overrun, resulting in the loss of data. 2. Error bits were not cleared before a character was passed to the class driver. When a receive error (eg. parity error, framing error) was reported, the port driver (SYS$YSDRIVER) would fail to clear error bits in the register containing the received character before passing it to the class driver (SYS$TTDRIVER). The result would be a bugcheck at various points in the class driver. o SYS$TTDRIVER %SYSTEM-F-BADESCAPE error When the driver SYS$TTDRIVER performed a QIO read function, an %SYSTEM-F-BADESCAPE exception occurred. This problem happened when an EUC Hankaku Katakana code was input using the REFLECTION terminal emulator via a LAT. Problems Addressed in ALPTTDR02_070 for OpenVMS V6.2: o Due to a problem with the port-driver-specific flow control logic, output will not stop until the end of an output burst when XOFF is received. Problems Addressed in ALPTTDR01_062: o TTA0 baud rates below 600 (that is, 50, 75, 150, or 300) do not work on the ALPHASERVER 2100. This problem has been fixed in OpenVMS Alpha V7.0. INSTALLATION NOTES: The images in this kit will not take effect until the system is rebooted. If there are other nodes in the VMScluster, they must also be rebooted in order to make use of the new image(s). If it is not possible or convenient to reboot the entire cluster at this time, a rolling re-boot may be performed.
