OpenVMS ALPOPDR04_062 Alpha V6.2 OPDRIVER ECO Summary

NOTE: An OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file is stored on the Internet in a self-expanding compressed file. The name of the compressed file will be kit_name-dcx_vaxexe for OpenVMS VAX or kit_name-dcx_axpexe for OpenVMS Alpha. Once the file is copied to your system, it can be expanded by typing RUN compressed_file. The resultant file will be the OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file which can be used to install the ECO. Copyright (c) Digital Equipment Corporation 1997. All rights reserved. OP/SYS: OpenVMS Alpha COMPONENT: OPDRIVER.EXE SOURCE: Digital Equipment Corporation ECO INFORMATION: ECO Kit Name: ALPOPDR04_062 ECO Kits Superseded by This ECO Kit: ALPOPDR03_062 ALPOPDR02_062 ALPOPDR01_062 ECO Kit Approximate Size: 234 Blocks Kit Applies To: OpenVMS Alpha V6.2, V6.2-1H1, V6.2-1H2, V6.2-1H3 System/Cluster Reboot Necessary: Yes Installation Rating: 3 - To be installed on all systems running the listed versions of OpenVMS which are experiencing the problems described. NOTE: In order to receive the full fixes listed in this kit, the following remedial kits also need to be installed: None ECO KIT SUMMARY: An ECO kit exists for OPDRIVER on OpenVMS Alpha V6.2. This kit addresses the following problems: Problems addressed in ALPOPDR04_062 o The ALPOPDR03_062 remedial kit documentation stated that it fixed a problem regarding OPDRIVER timeouts on Turbolasers. This problem is not fixed in the OPDRIVER remedial kits. It is fixed by the ALPSYS09_062 (or supersedant) remedial kit. There are no new fixes in this kit. If you have installed the ALPOPDR03_062 remedial kit, you do not need to install this kit. Problems addressed in ALPOPDR03_062 o While trying to print a large file using DCPS on a Dec 2000 model 300, the system would hang. o Operators at console see timeout errors under heavy usage. o A serial console on a Turbolaser (as opposed to a remote or LAT console) may see device timeouts after issuing commands such as $ directory or $ show device. Problems addressed in ALPOPDR02_062 o A paused serial terminal console in a cluster can cause software timeouts and ultimately cluster crashes. This problem is corrected in OpenVMS V7.0 Problems addressed in ALPOPDR01_062 o Occasionally, when outputting to OPA1 a WRITE SYS$OUTPUT timeout will occur. INSTALLATION NOTES: In order for the corrections in this kit to take effect, the system must be rebooted. If the system is a member of a VMScluster, the entire cluster should be rebooted.
