OpenVMS ALPCPU1604_071 V7.1 CPU_ROUTINES_1605 ECO Summary

TITLE: OpenVMS ALPCPU1604_071 V7.1 CPU_ROUTINES_1605 ECO Summary Modification Date: 16-JUN-1999 Modification Type: Updated Kit: Supersedes ALPCPU1603_071 NOTE: An OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file is stored on the Internet in a self-expanding compressed file. The name of the compressed file will be kit_name-dcx_vaxexe for OpenVMS VAX or kit_name-dcx_axpexe for OpenVMS Alpha. Once the file is copied to your system, it can be expanded by typing RUN compressed_file. The resultant file will be the OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file which can be used to install the ECO. Copyright (c) Compaq Computer Corporation 1997, 1999. All rights reserved. OP/SYS: DIGITAL OpenVMS Alpha COMPONENT: SYS$CPU_ROUTINES_1605.EXE SOURCE: Compaq Computer Corporation ECO INFORMATION: ECO Kit Name: ALPCPU1604_071 ECO Kits Superseded by This ECO Kit: ALPCPU1603_071 ALPCPU1602_071 ALPCPU1601_071 ECO Kit Approximate Size: 378 Blocks Kit Applies To: OpenVMS Alpha V7.1, V7.1-1H1, V7.1-1H2 System/Cluster Reboot Necessary: Yes Rolling Reboot Supported: Yes Installation Rating: INSTALL_3 3 - To be installed on all systems running the listed versions of OpenVMS which are experiencing the problems described. Kit Dependencies: The following remedial kit(s) must be installed BEFORE installation of this kit: ALPBASE02_071 In order to receive all the corrections listed in this kit, the following remedial kits should also be installed: None ECO KIT SUMMARY: An ECO kit exists for SYS$CPU_ROUTINES_1605.EXE on OpenVMS Alpha V7.1 through V7.1-1H2. This kit addresses the following problems: Problems addressed in ALPCPU1604_071 kit: o After installation of the ALPCPU1603_071 kit on a V7.1 system, the system does not boot properly. This problem is only on V7.1 systems. If you have a 7.1-1H1 or V7.1-1H2 system and have installed the ALPCPU1603_071 kit, you do not need to install this kit. Problems addressed in ALPCPU1603_071 kit: o Different versions of CPUs did not work together in the Alphaserver 4100. o Array indexing was changed from from [1] and [2] to [0] and [1] respectively because the C computer language uses zero-based indexing. o Error log system data from a machine check logout frame was incorrect. Problems addressed in ALPCPU1602_071 kit: o The ALPCPU1601_071 remedial kit, which applied to V6.2* and V7.1 is being reissued as two single version kits. There are no new fixes in this kit. If you have installed the ALPCPU1601_071 remedial kit you do not need to install this kit. Problems addressed in ALPCPU1601_071 kit: o Allow the use of mixed EV5 and EV6 CPUs on AlphaServer 4000/4100 systems. INSTALLATION NOTES: The images in this kit will not take effect until the system is rebooted. If you have other nodes in your OpenVMS cluster, they must also be rebooted in order to make use of the new image. If it is not possible or convenient to reboot the entire cluster at this time, a rolling re-boot may be performed.
