OpenVMS ALPCPU1603_062 Alpha V6.2 CPU Diagnostics Routines ECO Summary

TITLE: OpenVMS ALPCPU1603_062 Alpha V6.2 CPU Diagnostics Routines ECO Summary Modification Date: 09-OCT-98 Modification Type: Updated Kit: Supersedes ALPCPU1602_062 NOTE: An OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file is stored on the Internet in a self-expanding compressed file. The name of the compressed file will be kit_name-dcx_vaxexe for OpenVMS VAX or kit_name-dcx_axpexe for OpenVMS Alpha. Once the file is copied to your system, it can be expanded by typing RUN compressed_file. The resultant file will be the OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file which can be used to install the ECO. Copyright (c) Compaq Computer Corporation 1998. All rights reserved. OP/SYS: DIGITAL OpenVMS Alpha COMPONENT: CPU Diagnostics Routines SOURCE: Compaq Computer Corporation ECO INFORMATION: ECO Kit Name: ALPCPU1603_062 ECO Kits Superseded by This ECO Kit: ALPCPU1602_062 ALPCPU1601_062 ALPCPU1601_071 (For V6.2* ONLY) ECO Kit Approximate Size: 388 Blocks Saveset A: 378 Blocks Kit Applies To: OpenVMS Alpha V6.2, V6.2-1H1, V6.2-1H2, V6.2-1H3 System/Cluster Reboot Necessary: Yes Rolling Reboot Supported: Yes Installation Rating: 2 - INSTALL_2 To be installed on all systems running the listed versions of OpenVMS and using the following features: RACORE (Token Ring) adapter and/or DE500-BA adapter Specific Hardware Platform: AlphaServer 4x00 KIT DEPENDENCIES The following remedial kit(s) must be installed BEFORE installation of this kit: None In order to receive the all the corrections listed in this kit, the following remedial kits should also be installed: ALPLAN05_062 - For RACOR and DE500-BA adapter support ECO KIT SUMMARY: An ECO kit exists for SYS$CPU_ROUTINES_1605.EXE on OpenVMS Alpha V6.2 through V6.2-1H3. This kit addresses the following problems: Problems addressed in ALPCPU1603_062: o When booting an AlphaServer 4000/4100 over a newly released console (V5.2), driver calls to IOC$MAP_IO may fail. The driver will then be unable to touch its PCI registers and will go off-line. Problems addressed in ALPCPU1602_062: o Add support for the DE500-BA adapter and the Gigabit Ethernet adapter. o The RACORE (Token Ring) adapter was never supported in V6.2. The supported adapter, Thomas Conrad (Token Ring adapter) is being phased out so this new adapter must be supported. Problems addressed in ALPCPU1601_062: o The ALPCPU1601_071 remedial kit, which applied to V6.2* and V7.1 is being reissued as two single version kits. There are no new fixes in this kit. If you have installed the ALPCPU1601_062 remedial kit you do not need to install this kit. Problems addressed in ALPCPU1601_071: o Allow the use of mixed EV5 and EV6 CPUs on AlphaServer 4000/4100 systems. INSTALLATION NOTES: The images in this kit will not take effect until the system is rebooted. If you have other nodes in your OpenVMS cluster, they must also be rebooted in order to make use of the new images. If it is not possible or convenient to reboot the entire cluster at this time, a rolling re-boot may be performed.
