       by typing RUN compressed_file.  The resultant file will

ECO KIT SUMMARY:

An ECO kit exists for RENAME on OpenVMS Alpha V7.1 through V7.1-1H2.
This kit addresses the following problems: 

  o  When attempting to rename numerous files, if the number of
     files specified in the file parameter exceeds the file open
     limit for the user, subsequent rename attempts fail with the
     following error.

       $ RENAME/SINCE=yesterday *.* [.temp]

         -RMS-F-CHN, assign channel system service request failed
         -SYSTEM-F-NOIOCHAN, no I/O channel available


INSTALLATION NOTES:

The system/cluster does not need to be rebooted after this kit is 
installed.
