TITLE: ACMS ACMSXPAAVME02032 ACMSxp Version 3.2A for OpenVMS Alpha ECO Summary
New Kit Date : 08-FEB-2001
Modification Date: Not Applicable
Modification Type: New Kit
NOTE: An OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file is stored
on the Internet in a self-expanding compressed file.
For OpenVMS savesets, the name of the compressed saveset
file will be kit_name.a-dcx_vaxexe for OpenVMS VAX or
kit_name.a-dcx_axpexe for OpenVMS Alpha. Once the OpenVMS
saveset is copied to your system, expand the compressed
saveset by typing RUN kitname.dcx_vaxexe or kitname.dcx_alpexe.
For PCSI files, once the PCSI file is copied to your system,
rename the PCSI file to kitname-dcx_axpexe.pcsi, then it can
be expanded by typing RUN kitname-dcx_axpexe.pcsi. The resultant
file will be the PCSI installation file which can be used to install
the ECO.

ECO KIT SUMMARY:
An ECO kit exists for ACMSxp V3.2A for OpenVMS Alpha on OpenVMS
Alpha V6.2 through V7.2-1.This kit addresses the following problems:
Problems Addressed in ACMSXPAAVME02032:
o Processing server returns WRONG-DB error when task
Server is killed. For VMS platform only.
Problem: If a Task server is killed during the time the processing
server is in a database/SQL call, then the processing server becomes
unusable and returns "WRONG-DB" error message for all subsequent
SQL calls. This condition happens due to the processing server thread,
which executes the SQL call gets cancelled asynchronously.
Resolution: A fix has been provided, which will prevent threads running user
written procedures from being interrupted and cancelled asynchronously.
a. Rebuild all processing servers with this version of STDL compiler.
b. Define the following environment variable for the Processing server
and restart the process
ACMS_ASYNC_CANCEL FALSE (for Processing Servers only)
o The processing server restart fails with following
error %TPS-E-FIFONOTEXIST. For VMS platform only.
Problem: This problem happens when a task server is killed by the user
and the processing server terminates. Tpcontroller restarts the servers
and one of the processing server fails to restart with the error message
"%TPS-E-FIFONOTEXIST, Specified fifo does not exist"
Solution: The processing server should not terminate when a task server is
killed. The fix for the earller problem 70-22-38/CFS.77305 prevents a
processing server from terminating for any extraneous reasons, specifically
when task server is killed.
a. Rebuild all processing servers with this version of STDL compiler.
b. Define the following environment variable for the Processing server
and restart the process
ACMS_ASYNC_CANCEL FALSE (for Processing Servers only)
o Server fails to start with "Invalid Mutex" error. For
VMS platform only
Problem: When a TP system containing several Task and Processing servers is
started one or more of the servers fail to start with "Invalid Mutex" error
This problem happens when the servers fail to reach the DCE registry server
for obtaining credentials
Resolution: A fix has been provided which increases the retry limit to reach
DCE registry server at startup and takes care of the "Invalid Mutex" error.
o KANJI/MIA backward compatibility with ACMSxp V1.1. For VMS platform only.
Problem: Addition of UNICODE support in ACMSxp V3.x broke compatibility for
KANJI MIA users of ACMSxp V1.1. This problem is only seen when the users
STDL code is compiled with the following switches:
/MIA/datatype=(text_type=kanji,header_type=char,nowire_format)
Resolution: Provide backward compatibility when the above switch is
specified. Note this change impacts only MIA users of KANJI language.
o PSECT linker errors and ACMS_DCE_V3 logical removed. For VMS platform only.
In the previous versions of ACMSxp and with DCE V1.5 ECO 1 and higher,
ACMS_DCE_V3 logical was required to be defined while building application
servers to avoid PSECT linker errors. In this version of ACMSxp this logical
is no longer required with DCE V1.5 ECO 1 and higher.
For those installtions with DCE versions prior to V1.5 ECO 1 a new logical
ACMS_DCE_OLD_COMMON_BLOCK should be defined to "YES" to avoid PSECT linker
errors.
INSTALLATION NOTES:
