ECO KIT SUMMARY:
An ECO kit exists for DEC SNA Domain Gateway V2.1 on DEC OSF/1 V2.1
through Tru64 UNIX V5.0. This kit addresses the following problems:
Problems addressed in SNAPU5_UE02021:
The DECnet/SNA Domain Gateway Release Notes contain a complete
explanation of the fixes contained in this ECO. Listed below is
a brief description of them.
o If an old PU/Sess Address name style was used, ie, SNA-0.5,
the error "combination of connect flags is invalid" would
be returned. The software was modified to interpret an old
style name under a passive connect as valid under GAP V3.0.
o A GAP V3 connection to the gateway was rejected if an Access
Name had the trailing spaces. This problem has been fixed in
this release, we now trim the trailing spaces off.
o Fixed a problem exhibited by PrE in which a bind response
was lost and the session and link between PrE and the Domain
Gateway hangs. The cause was the receipt of a Bind over a
virtual route that was in the process of an orderly deac-
tivation sequence. The remote side _RSP to the request as
it had already initiated a new session. The Domain Gateway
discards the bind response in Subarea Path Control due to an
erroneous check to determine if the VR was active.
o The SNAPU5 V2.1 is now supported on Tru64 UNIX V5.0 systems
(formerly known as Digital UNIX).
Problems addressed in SNAPU5_UE01021:
The DECnet/SNA Domain Gateway Release Notes contain a complete
explanation of the fixes contained in this ECO. Listed below is
a brief description them.
o The script compiler errors if lu names have an "@" without
double quotes. The configurator was fixed to place quotes
around lu names.
o Fixed a crash where the next_lpd = 0 and sapc$vr_neg_rsp was
called by resetting the in_biu bit and setting l_lrb_size
to 0 when we finish a recombination of a PIU into a BIU.
The crash was caused by the in_biu flag being on and the LRB
empty.
o Release Linkdel LPD if you call channel_disconnect. Once
channel_disconnect is called, we have to get rid of the
Linkdel LPD, else we try to send it later in sock_terminate
when TCP tells us to go away.
o Uninitalized queues in up cdb would cause a bugcheck if not
0 at channel deletion time. The crash would show UPCDB$A_
PASSIVE_FL 0000FFFF.
o Fixed an access violation adding/removing TCP port attribute
blocks from the tree structure. A logic problem in LUMGR
set a pointer to 0 of a deallocated structure that was re-
allocated in TCP. Cleaned up TCP handling of port attribute
blocks for an additional bug removing an element that wasn't
added to the tree.
o Removed bugcheck in the case where a CDTERM is received for
a session initiated by a 3rd party (Init-other-cd) , which
did not request term. Notification. This occurred when the
session termination indicated that it was via Netmgr.
o Fixed an access violation caused by storing reference to
SSCP-SSCP Notifies on the CDRM response queue. There are no
responses to correlate with, thus the entry remains on the
queue. A subsequent RU reusing that SNF (wrap) that indeed
gets a response causes the wrong entry to be dequeued. No
longer store Notifies.
o The configuration utility was unable to handle LU names that
contained "@" or "#" characters. This fix puts quotes around
the LU names where necessary in the generated NCL script. A
side affect of this fix is that wildcarded LU name specifi-
cations in the LU list for an access name will be expanded
to the exact list of LUs matching the wildcard if the spec-
ified wildcarded LU contains "@" or "#" characters. This is
because NCL treats quoted wildcard characters literally.
INSTALLATION NOTES:
Note that this is a complete kit. The current version of the Domain Gateway
must be deleted before installing this ECO. Removing the subsets will not
remove your configuration files. However, it is suggested you create copies
to prevent accidental removal.
Save copies of your current (cmip, ncl, icu) configuration files before
installing this ECO kit to another directory.
The ECO kit is distributed as a tar file containing the kit which can be
installed using the setld command. The tar file should be unpacked to a
suitable directory and then the setld command issued specifying that directory
as the source of the kit.
For example, if the tar file containing the kit has been copied to
/usr/tmp/snapu5.tar:
# mkdir /usr/tmp/snapu5
# cd /usr/tmp/snapu5
# tar xf /usr/tmp/snapu5.tar
# setld -l .
If the kit is delivered on tap11 then the commands would be:
# mkdir /usr/tmp/snapu5
# cd /usr/tmp/snapu5
# tar x
# setld -l .
Implementation
--------------
The Domain Gateway must be reloaded for fixes to be made operational. The
gateway need not be reconfigured.
