ECO KIT SUMMARY:
An ECO kit exists for Tru64 UNIX V4.0D Worldwide Language Subset on Tru64
UNIX V4.0D. This kit addresses the following problems:
Problems Addressed in DUV40DWLSECO1:
DIGITAL UNIX V4.0D does not support the display, processing and printing
of the new euro currency sign that was introduced on January 1, 1999 in
Software Division expects many of Compaq's DIGITAL UNIX customers to
remain on V4.0D through the year 2000 and they will require euro support.
This ECO kit, when installed together with DIGITAL UNIX V4.0D Patches
762.00, 756.00, and 729.00 in the DUV40DAS0005-19991007 patch kit will
enable the system to display, process and print the euro character by
using the new UTF-8 locales introduced in this ECO kit. Please note: the
above patch kit can be obtained at URL:

INSTALLATION NOTES:
You install the ECO1 kit using the standard setld command. If you are not
familiar with installation procedures, please refer to the "DIGITAL UNIX
Installation Guide for Version 4.0D" for a description of installing the
DIGITAL UNIX kit and DIGITAL UNIX Worldwide Language Support software.
You can also refer to the setld(8) reference page for more information.
The installation takes approximately 10 minutes depending on the system
processor type and the number of subsets being installed.
This ECO1 kit includes 43 subsets. Four subsets are new and have no
counterparts in the original V4.0D kit. They are:

Compaq recommends that you install all the applicable subsets in this ECO
kit that correspond to the subsets currently installed on your system. To
install all of the ECO1 kit subsets, select all the subsets when prompted
for subset selection.
Installation Procedure
----------------------
1. Login as superuser and copy the ECO1 kit (e.g. eco1.tar) to a local
disk. For example: assume the ECO1 kit is copied to /var/tmp/eco,
extract the ECO1 kit from the tar file using the following commands.
# cd /var/tmp/eco
# tar xpvf eco1.tar
2. Shutdown the target machine to single user mode and issue the
bcheckrc command to mount local file systems:
# /sbin/bcheckrc
3. Change your working directory to the directory containing the ECO1 kit:
# cd /var/tmp/eco/kit
4. Use the setld command to install the ECO1 kit:
# /usr/sbin/setld -l .
5. Once installed, a list of subset options will be displayed. Select
the option(s) you want.
6. After the installation is complete, reboot the system:
# /usr/sbin/shutdown -r now
7. The ECO1 software checks to see if any of the previous ECOs in the
kit have already been applied. If some of the included ECOs have
been applied, they will not be shown in the menu for your choice.
