ECO KIT SUMMARY:

An ECO kit exists for PATHWORKS for ULTRIX V1.3 (VAX) on ULTRIX V4.3A or V4.4.
This kit addresses the following problems: 

    CD-ROM files with NULL extensions

        Files on a shared CD-ROM which have a filename ending with a
        dot (.) were not previously visible from the client. The server
        has been modified so that these files are now visible.
            
    Clearing the DOS ARCHIVE bit

        A problem existed whereby once the DOS ARCHIVE bit for a file
        was cleared (i.e. via DOS BACKUP), the bit would not be
        turned on when the file was modified.  The problem has
        been fixed in this release.

    DisableArchiveBit parameter

        A parameter has been added to the lanman.ini file to disable
        usage of the set group bit by the PATHWORKS for ULTRIX
        server.  This bit was used to set the DOS ARCHIVE bit on file
        shares.  If this parameter is set to yes, the DOS ATTRIB
        command can not be used to set the ARCHIVE bit and a syslog
        message will be written if this is attempted.

    	The use of this bit can cause problems on an NFS file share
	which is exported from another UNIX system, if the other
        system expects to use the bit for another purpose (such as
        for locking).  In most cases, this parameter will not be
        set.

        To set the disablearchivebit parameter, the lanman.ini file
        must be manually modified.  The parameter can not be changed
        using pcsamgr.  If pcsamgr is used to set another lanman.ini
        parameter, the disablearchivebit setting will revert to no.
        The file must be edited again to correct this.

    UNIX and DOS file conversion

        The programs used to convert files between UNIX and DOS
        formats, ult2dos and dos2ult, now use unique temporary
        filenames.  This allows these programs to be executed
        simultaneously from the same directory.  Before this change,
        simultaneously executing two instances of these processes
	from the same directory would cause file corruption.

    CPU consumption by pcsafs process

        A problem existed whereby the pcsafs process could loop
        if the client delivered an invalid file handle.  This
        problem is fixed in this release.

    Printing when the server has a long hostname

        If the server's unix hostname was long, the print control
        file created by a client print request would be corrupted.
        The largest hostname allowed is 31 characters.  The problem
        would occur if the hostname was greater than 12 characters.

INSTALLATION NOTES:

  Customers must de-install PATHWORKS for ULTRIX Base system subset using
  setld:

	> /etc/setld -d PCVBASE130 PCVRNOTES130 PCVMAN130

        - If any of the three subsets are not installed, setld displays a
          message to the user stating that.  It also prompts the user to
          make sure they really want to deinstall the subsets specified.

  and re-install with new kit:

	> /etc/setld -l /kitdir

        - /kitdir is the location of the kit.  If the kit is on tape, the
          most common tape drive specification is /dev/rmt0h.  If the kit is
          already on the system, /kitdir is the path to the kit's location.
          See directions below for details on installing the kit.

  Installing the PATHWORKS for ULTRIX V1.3 ECO KIT:
  ----------------------------------------------------
  1. Copy the kit from tape.

        > cd /kitdir
        > tar xvf /dev/rmtxx

        - /kitdir is directory from which the kit will be installed.
        - /dev/rmtxx is tape drive where tape has been loaded.  Below is
          example:
            /dev/rmt0h
        - If kit is being obtained from something other than tape media,
          copy the subset to the /kitdir and proceed with step 2.

  2. Use the tar utility to unpack the kit, example:

	> tar xvf ECO02PCV130.TAR

        - a directory called 'vax' is created and it contains the 
	  following files:

              PCVBASE130    PCVRNOTE130   checksums     mandatory
              PCVMAN130     all           instctrl

  3. Change to the kit directory and use the setld utility to install the kit:

	> cd vax
        > setld -l ./

        - The above setld command will display a list of valid subsets that
          are in the current directory in menu format and prompts the user.
          Below is an example:
