DUNIX KIT_DTF104 Data Transfer Facility V1.0 ECO Summary

Copyright (c) Digital Equipment Corporation 1997. All rights reserved. PRODUCT: Data Transfer Facility Client V1.0 OP/SYS: DIGITAL UNIX [R] SOURCE: Digital Equipment Corporation ECO INFORMATION: ECO Kit Name: KIT_DTF104 ECO Kits Superseded by This ECO Kit: DTF101 DTF102 DTF103 ECO Kit Approximate Size: 2168 Blocks Kit Applies To: Data Transfer Facility Client V1.0 DIGITAL UNIX V3.2 - V4.0B System/Cluster Reboot Necessary: No NOTE: The KIT_DTF104 ECO kit is a cumulative kit which supersedes the KIT_DTF103 ECO kit. ECO KIT SUMMARY: An ECO kit exists for Data Transfer Facility Client V1.0 on DIGITAL UNIX V3.2 through V4.0B. This kit addresses the following problems: Problems addressed in KIT_DTF104 o The DTF/DU 'dispatcher' process sometimes terminated with no error messages and no core dump. o The DTF/DU 'dispatcher' did not attempt to re-establish an SNA session with the mainframe when the mainframe was unavailable. This limitation was documented in the release notes for the original product, but is now removed. o Incorrect output was being produced by the 'dtfls' command when: - the '-l' option was used on the command line to request mainframe file size and date last modified - the mainframe file had been 'migrated' to backup storage. Instead of indicating that the file size and modification date were not available, the dtfls command was using the file size and modification date from the previous line of output. The 'dtfls' command will now indicate that the file size and date are unavailable. Example: dtfls -l joe.vt\* DTFVOL 20-OCT-86 229376 JOE.VTX2.PLI MIGRAT@ xx-xxx-xx x JOE.VTX4.PLI 16:47:09 DUN7518W '@' indicates volumes that are not mounted o On IBM to Unix copies, a CRC check is now performed. Before this ECO, the CRC was not being performed. Problems addressed in previous ECOs: o DTFDU produced a core dump and terminated when receiving large files with compression enabled. o The -m flag on commands dtfui and dtfiu did not send mail message to user when queued transfer completes. o Minor errors in man pages dtfpr, dtfsb, and dtf. o IBM initiated copies fail with error message DUN9018E if "C2" enhanced security is in use on the UNIX machine. o IBM to UNIX copies will sometimes fail with message DUN7013E which indicates that there is not enough space on the UNIX machine. This failure happens when there is actually > 2 gigabytes of available storage. INSTALLATION NOTES: Installation procedure: 1. Delete previous version of DTFRUN10* and DTFMAN10*. 2. Un-tar kit_DTF104.tar 3. Use setld to install subsets DTFRUN103 and/or DTFMAN101 Example: setld -d DTFRUN102 DTFMAN100 cd /tmp mkdir temp cd temp tar xvf /blah/blah/kit_dtf104.tar setld -l ./ DTFRUN103 DTFMAN101 Notes: 1. Do not use the DTFRUN100, DTFRUN101, or DTFRUN102 IVP after installing DTFRUN103. If attempted, an error messages indicating "not currently installed" messages will be displayed. Use the DTFRUN103 IVP instead. To execute the DTFRUN103 version of the IVP: setld -v DTFRUN103 [R] UNIX is a registered trademark in the United States and other countries licensed exclusively through X/Open Company Limited.
