LDSU Download and Installation Instructions

A released version of LDSU (V1.0-6) is now available.

This version includes a license which expires on July 31, 1998

Send mail to DirSolutions@digital.com. to obtain a permanent license.

This version includes on-line documentation and examples.

LDSU runs on the following platforms:

• Windows NT V4.0 or later (Alpha or Intel)
• Digital UNIX V3.2 or later
• OpenVMS V6.1 or later (Alpha or VAX) (requires TCP/IP services)

Follow the instructions below for each platform.

To install on Windows NT Intel:

1. Download the self-extracting file: ldsu_nt_intel_v1-0-6.exe
2. Run the file and specify \LDSU on the systemdrive as the To folder.
3. Access \LDSU\docs\ldsu_getting_started.html with your browser.

• To uninstall LDSU, remove all files under the \LDSU tree.

To install on Windows NT Alpha:

1. Download the zip file: ldsu_nt_alpha_v1-0-6.zip
2. If needed, Download the unzip program unzip_nt_alpha.exe.
3. Set default to \ on the systemdrive
4. Unzip the ldsu kit file (e.g. unzip.exe ldsu.zip)
5. Access \LDSU\docs\ldsu_getting_started.html with your browser.

• To uninstall LDSU, remove all files under the \LDSU tree.

To install on Digital UNIX:

1. Download the zip file: ldsu_dunix_v1-0-6.zip
2. If needed, Download the unzip program unzip_dunix.exe.
3. Unzip the ldsu kit file (e.g. unzip.exe ldsu.zip). This creates a tar file.
4. As su, restore the ldsu tar file (e.g. tar xvf ldsu_NNN.tar). This restores all ldsu files to /var/ldsu)
5. If needed, load the LDSU temporary license (run the *.CSH file in /var/ldsu)
6. Access /var/ldsu/docs/ldsu_getting_started.html with your browser.

• To uninstall LDSU, remove all files under the /var/ldsu tree and remove the license (/usr/sbin/lmf delete ldsu).

To install on OpenVMS Alpha:

1. Download the zip file: ldsu_vms_alpha_v1-0-6.zip
2. If needed, Download the unzip program unzip_vms_alpha.exe.
3. Unzip the ldsu kit file (e.g. unzip.exe ldsu.zip). This creates a saveset file.
4. Restore the ldsu saveset file (e.g. backup saveset/save disk:[*...]) This restores all ldsu files to disk:[LDSU...].
5. If needed, load the LDSU temporary license (run the *.COM file in disk:[LDSU])
6. Access disk:[ldsu.docs]ldsu_getting_started.html with your browser.

• To uninstall LDSU, remove all files under the disk:[LDSU...] tree and remove the license (license delete ldsu).

To install on OpenVMS VAX:

1. Download the zip file: ldsu_vms_vax_v1-0-6.zip
2. If needed, Download the unzip program unzip_vms_vax.exe.
3. Unzip the ldsu kit file (e.g. unzip.exe ldsu.zip). This creates a saveset file.
4. Restore the ldsu saveset file (e.g. backup saveset/save disk:[*...]) This restores all ldsu files to disk:[LDSU...].
5. If needed, load the LDSU temporary license (run the *.COM file in disk:[LDSU])
6. Access disk:[ldsu.docs]ldsu_getting_started.html with your browser.
