        	PATHWORKS V5.1 for DOS and Windows Customers 
              Regarding V5.1 Product Authorization Keys (PAKs)
							October 1994

A new version of the PATHWORKS for DOS and Windows client software was 
released in September 1994. This release is numbered Version 5.1.

New Features ...
This release contained many new features, such as:
        o Access to information on the Internet's World Wide Web
        through the PATHWORKS Mosaic application
        o Access to directory services for workgroups through
        the inclusion of Digital's InfoBroker client software
        o Access to PATHWORKS networks for mobile and wireless
        PCs users through Digital's RoamAbout Mobile IP software.
        o Inclusion of various application integration runtimes
        (ObjectBroker, DECmessageQ, and Distributed Computing
        Environment (DCE)) for application developers.
                
A New, PATHWORKS V5.1, License is Required ...
Due to the new features added to the PATHWORKS client software, a new, 
PATHWORKS V5.1 for DOS and Windows, license is required to use this 
version. Because PATHWORKS software now uses Digital's standard 
License Management Facilities, licenses are now delivered in the form 
of Product Authorization Keys (PAKs).

If you have purchased Digital's New Version License Service (NVLS) for 
the PATHWORKS for DOS and Windows software product, you were automatically 
shipped the appropriate number of PATHWORKS V5.1 licenses/PAKS. 

If you are on NVLS, you should have received the new PATHWORKS V5.1 
for DOS and Windows client licenses (PAKs) already. If you 
have not received them, call your local Digital services representative.

If you are not on NVLS, you will need to add new PATHWORKS V5.1 for DOS
and Windows licenses. Special upgrade prices are available, but your best 
value is the New Version License Service.

Version 5.1 Media and Documentation Kits ...
If you have purchased Digital's Media and Documentation Distribution
Service (MDDS), you were automatically shipped the new version of 
the media and documentation kit already. If you do not have this service, then
you will need to purchase the new PATHWORKS V5.1 for DOS and Windows media 
and documentation kit. Diskette and CD-ROM kits are available. Note
that the diskette kit contains 40 diskettes. 

To Get Started Using PATHWORKS V5.1 ...
To get started using the software, you need to load your PATHWORKS V5.1 
PAKs into your License Management Facilty (LMF) database if using any of 
the following PATHWORKS servers:
        o PATHWORKS V5.0 for OpenVMS (LAN Manager)
        o PATHWORKS V1.0 for OpenVMs (NetWare)
        o PATHWORKS V5.0 for DEC OSF/1 AXP (LAN Manager)

If you are not using any of the PATHWORKS servers listed above, please 
store your hardcopy PAKs in a safe place, as they are your proof of purchase.

Refer to the Guide to Managing PATHWORKS Licenses, contained in your
PATHWORKS server media and documentation kit, for detailed information
on how and where to install your license PAKs, according to your network 
configuration and usage patterns.
