Compaq(R) LDAP Directory Synchronizer Utility (LDSU) has been developed over years of trial experiences in customer projects by Compaq's Systems Integration group. The tool set was used in June of 1998 to successfully integrate Digital's 65,000 Microsoft Exchange Users with Compaq's 36,000 Exchange Users into one seamless global directory on Day 1 of the merger.

Highly Functional

The LDSU tool set is designed to provide directory data exchange (sync) between LDAP-supported directories and virtually any other directory or database. Compaq LDSU can provide bidirectional directory synchronization between email directories, such as Microsoft(R) Exchange, Lotus(R) Notes(TM), Compaq Alta Vista, Digital ALL-IN-1(TM), Digital X.500, Novell(R) GroupWise(TM), and many others.

Typical Enterprise Uses

LDSU uses intelligent algorithms and can be customized to support virtually any directory. With the expansive set of features, it can integrate with Human Resource systems or it can be used to generate electronic mailing lists, such as White Pages and Yellow Pages. Technical Features

LDSU provides bidirectional sync between any LDAP directory and virtually any other directory to provide the data exchange and synchronization necessary for an enterprise-wide Meta directory.
The Import feature loads the LDAP directory with information from any directory or other info source, such as an e-mail address list or HR system.
Incoming information in various formats is mapped into LDAP by using flexible configuration files.
LDSU allows for initial bulk-loading of directory information, as well as ongoing synchronization maintenance.
Import feeds can be either in the form of a full feed or a delta feed.
The Export feature uses highly flexible configuration files that permit the extracted information to be tailored into ready for use form.
LDSU tags all entries with a unique (configurable) Group ID, which aids in management and customization.
Extracts can be full directory or subsets based on Group ID, attributes, or recent changes.
Extracts can be formatted specifically for the target directory database.
Can synchronize virtually any directory through the use of site-specific Record Description Files (RDFs).
