This Novell(r) certified multislot "stackable" offers you maximum configuration flexibility to start small with a single, standalone hub and use the same hubs in a fully loaded, multifunction DEChub 90 chassis. Any DEChub 90 module simply snaps into the unique DEChub 90 to provide true hot-swap capability for the highest availability. And you have complete flexibility to mix and match our extensive family of DEChub modules -- to custom tailor a multifunction solution that easily accommodates changing network requirements.
The DEChub 90 chassis is a flexible, multifunction Ethernet hub, providing a total network solution with the ability to concentrate up to eight DEChub 90 repeaters, access servers, bridges, routers, wireless products, and LAN traffic monitoring and management products -- with plug-and-play ease. And best of all, you can use these DEChub 90 modules as standalone single-slot hubs, or move them forward to a DEChub 90 chassis or to Digital's high-performance enterprise DEChub 900 MultiSwitch -- preserving your initial investments and extending the value of your equipment. Intelligence is built in, too, so there's no need to consume a valuable hub slot with additional management cards or retiming modules. And since the DEChub 90 offers true hot-swap capabilities, network change is easy and painless -- you can avoid the costs, downtime, and threat of obsolescence found with ordinary stackable or chassis-based solutions.

Designed for ease and economy
With the DEChub 90, networking is quick and easy. This compact, low-cost solution goes where you want it to go -- a standard 19-inch rack in a wiring closet, hung on a wall, or even sitting on a desktop. DEChub 90 modules just snap in place in seconds with Digital's tab-and-latch mechanism for immediate operation -- no special training, tools, or software downloading is required. And each DEChub 90 module has its own easy-to-read status lights, making local network administration just as easy. In addition, the DEChub 90 supports both industry and de facto standards -- such as SNMP -- allowing you to connect other DEChubs, as well as third-party networks, seamlessly.
Flexible, multifunction networking solutions
The DEChub 90 supports the full range of Digital's networking functionality -all from a single multislot hub. This includes a full family of Ethernet repeaters with an array of media options, multiprotocol access servers for cost-effective remote access, multiprotocol bridge/routers and routers for WAN connectivity, and wireless capabilities for flexible access to the network without a hard-wire connection. The DEChub 90 comes complete with an integral power supply to support all DEChub modules. All together, it's a powerful, feature-rich product suite that delivers complete network functionality.
The flexibility of the DEChub architecture enables you to choose any combination of networking products to suit your specific application. For example, whether you are using unshielded twisted-pair, ThinWire, thick wire, or fiber, Digital's DECrepeater family can integrate your workstations and PCs into a low-cost LAN. For low-cost remote access, the Digital NetRider 90 and DECserver 90M products provide multiprotocol connections and support for remote node, remote control, and accounting. For higher-speed wide area connectivity, choose Digital's DECbrouter 90 -- a CISCO(r)-compatible, multiprotocol bridge/router. And for quick, easy, and direct wireless network connections, Digital's RoamAbout Access Point allows in-building roaming for wireless PC connectivity.
For managing the DEChub 90, HUBwatch graphical management software provides you with powerful management capabilities through SNMP. With Digital's HUBwatch software, you'll be able to remotely build, configure, and manage multiple single-slot hubs, as well as fully loaded DEChub 90s. This simple, graphical interface translates SNMP messages into illustrations of DEChub 90 modules. You can easily navigate through the software to configure, monitor, and control the DEChub 90 -- all from a standard PC or workstation using Windows(tm), OSF/1(r), or OpenVMS VAX. What's more, HUBwatch can be accessed from HP(r) OpenView for Windows, preserving your investment in existing enterprise network management software. HUBwatch simply appears as an HP OpenView icon -- so you just point and click to visualize, build, and manage your network.
Configuration options to fit your network environment
The DEChub 90 provides an integral BNC port for connecting the hub to a ThinWire Ethernet backbone. For expanded connectivity, two DEChub 90s can be linked via the BNC port to support higher-density workgroups. The linked DEChub 90s can then be managed by HUBwatch as a single 16-slot hub. What's more, when using intelligent repeaters, the DECagent 90 management agent can uniquely manage multiple DEChub devices on an extended LAN without dedicating a valuable slot for management.
A fully populated DEChub 90 can be mounted in a standard 19-inch rack. In addition, with the optional DEHUX mounting kit, the DEChub 90 can be configured with patch panels as a mini equipment closet. The DEHUX mounting kit provides you with a framework for a complete cabling solution in structured wiring environments. As a result, you can establish and maintain dynamic wiring configurations to accommodate changing office layouts.
