V6.1 Firmware Changes for AlphaServer 4X00 Systems                                                                    April 2004

Firmware code changes for V6.1 were made to address a problem, not often
seen, when booting the OpenVMS operating system from a Four-CPU system configuration.
The problem is seen, after booting OpenVMS, with CPU-3 failing to start and failing to join the Active Set under OpenVMS.
A boot or reboot of the system will result in a "CPU Sanity" or "CPU Spinwait Timer Expired" bugcheck depending upon
which version of OpenVMS is in use. The failure of CPU3 to start does not affect the running of the system, because CPU3
is not included in the active set of CPUs under the OS.

Release notes have not been updated for this release. The V6.0 release notes along with update methods
