B: Updating the StorEdge5310 NAS RAID controller firmware

----------------------------------------------------------------

A: Updating the StorEdge5310 NAS operating system software

It is recommended to update one cluster head at a time, enabling
service to be mainained throughout the process.

Updating Sun StorEdge 5310 Cluster NAS Software:

Start a web browser and connect to your StorEdge 5310, i.e.
  http://10.0.52.10/

Supply the administration password and click "apply".

1: In the navigation panel, select:
    > System Operations > Update Software

2. In the Update Software panel, type the path where the
update files are located. If you need to look for the
path, click Browse. The update file provided with this
patch is located in the same directory as this file.
   Look for *.IMG

3: Click the Update button and wait for the transfer of
the system software to StorEdge 5310.

4. When the update process is complete, click no to reboot
since this will reboot the entire cluster.

5. Go to the "Shutdown The Server" panel, and select "Reboot This
Head Only". The update does not take effect until the system
   is rebooted.

6. When the head has rebooted, it will be in Quiet Mode and the
other head will be in Alone Mode. You must do a recover on the
Alone head by going to the Fault Tolerance panel, then the
Recover panel, and then click the Recover button.

6. When the system has recovered, repeat the complete process for the
   other head.

Note that the system restart on the 5310 after this update
takes a few minutes longer than normal. The additional time
is necessary for completing installation of the new software.

B: Updating the StorEdge5310 NAS RAID controller firmware

This patch package includes new firmware files for the NAS RAID controller which were released with NAS 5000 Family OS version 4.12. Please see the included Relese Notes for instructions on how to upgrade your system.

It is necessary to upgrade your system's FW if you are using 400GB SATA drives or adding new hardware. Only perform this upgrade if you have not already done so with releases 4.10 or 4.11.
