Svc (TCT)

DESCRIPTION
The "Svc" column indicates whether a 3270-like entry's device is in or out of
service. Sun MTPScan displays a value for "Svc" for all (active or not) entries with
a "Type" of '3270', 'EPI', 'TN3270', or 'TR'.

VALUES
"Svc" takes on one of the following values:

'Ins' - the device is in service.
'Out' - the device is out of service.

INTERPRETATION
This datapoint tells if a device is connected. The reason Sun MTPScan shows "Svc"
for inactive entries is that they can be preconfigured in the Sun MTP Terminal
Control Table (TCT). In this case, "Svc" shows the value set in the In Svc
field.

CONCLUSIONS
When a terminal logs onto the Sun MTP system, it is put into service. An XPUx
device can also be put into service with the CEMT transaction. For example:

   CEMT SET TERMINAL L860 INSERVICE

The following CEMT transaction takes a device out of service:

   CEMT SET TERMINAL L860 OUTSERVICE
