KIXSYS (Environment)

DESCRIPTION
The "KIXSYS" environment variable specifies the pathname of a directory that
contains the application tables that define a particular Sun MTP system. A user
or administrator configures these tables with the Sun MTP table manager.

VALUES
The value of "KIXSYS" is the full pathname of a system directory that
holds the tables for a Sun MTP system.

INTERPRETATION
Many Sun MTP systems can run concurrently on the same machine but each
Sun MTP system must have a unique value for "KIXSYS". This directory must have
write permissions for users authorized to change Sun MTP system tables.

Sun MTPScan uses the value of "KIXSYS" in a Sun MTP File to connect with a Sun MTP
system. The value of "KIXSYS" provides the key to attach to a Sun MTP system's
shared memory.

CONCLUSIONS
The "KIXSYS" environment variable must be set in order to initiate a Sun MTP
system. Sun MTP will not come up without it.

Sun MTPScan displays the value of "KIXSYS" as it is being used by a Sun MTP system.
Even with the system up and running, it does not mean that the value of the
environment variable is correct. If the system exhibits strange behavior,
examine the values of all environment variables on Sun MTPScan's Environment Screen
to ensure that the Sun MTP system has been told correctly where to look for the
components needed to execute a system.
