The ESP_NETRA Knowledge Module (KM) makes use of the underlying functionality
provided by the Lights Out Management (LOM) provided as part of the Netra
family of systems. Backwardly compatable with the legacy TSalarms software the
KM provides BMC patrol with the facilities to monitor the information routinely
provided by the LOM.
The LOM (and it's precurser, tsalarms) is a low cost Lights Out Management
device. Implemented in the form of an independent processor powered from a
standby voltage linked to the host power supply, LOM allows system monitoring
and control even with a system powered down or in the event of a system crash
or failure.
LOM core functionality allows powering up, powering down and reseting of the
host system. With an external interface accesable via the serial port the LOM
uses, where possible, the same APIs and commands as the WGS System Service
Processor (SSP).
The LOM also monitors the states of various hardware on the host system. This

includes fan rotation, power supply status and in later versions temperature
and voltage information. The LOM also provides functionality to drive a fault
indicator. In addition the LOM includes an Automatic Server Restart (ASR) feature
and can share a single serial port with the host console.
Use the
/usr/sbin/lom
command on the system (LOM)
Use the
/usr/sbin/tsstate
command on the system (TSalarm)
