README FILE FOR ENC97FIX.EXE FILE DATED: 10/17/96 Using IntelliPoint or IntelliType software (pointer.exe) Pointer.exe is a program that controls some mouse and keyboard options and is incompatible with the encyclopedia. If your computer is running Microsoft® Windows® 3.1 or 3.11, pointer.exe, and Encarta® Encyclopedia, an error message appears asking you to disable pointer.exe. Doing so will disable only the minor functions listed below; your mouse and keyboard will continue to operate. You may need to download a patch that upgrades your copy of the encyclopedia. The patch allows Encarta Encyclopedia to disable pointer.exe. Download the below patch if the following conditions are true: - You're using Windows 3.1 or 3.11, and - The error message appears and it does not include a Help button.
