FPNWAUTH.EXE is a command line utility you can use to enable or disable Microsoft(R) File and Print Services for NetWare (FPNW) client authentication on a domain controller. This utility enables a domain controller on which the FPNW "Admin Tools Only" have been installed to authenticate logon attempts by FPNW users from NetWare(R) clients. By using FPNWAuth, you don't need to purchase and install the full File and Print Services for NetWare product on every domain controller that may authenticate FPNW users. Four files are included: FPNWAUTH.X86 for computers with x86-compatible processors FPNWAUTH.MIP for computers with MIPS-compatible processors FPNWAUTH.PPC for computers with IBM Power PC processors FPNWAUTH.ALP for computers with DEC Alpha processors Rename the appropriate file for your computer to FPNWAUTH.EXE Syntax --------- FPNWAUTH Enables the domain controller to authenticate FPNW users. FPNWAUTH /D Disables FPNW authentication on that domain controller. Instructions ------------------- To enable all domain controllers in a domain to authenticate FPNW users: 1. Install the full File and Print Services for NetWare product on at least one domain controller in the domain. (This can be, but does not have to be, the primary domain controller.) 2. On all domain controllers that do not have full File and Print Services for NetWare: * Install the FPNW Admin Tools (using the Add Software button from the Network icon in Control Panel. * Run FPNWAUTH to enable FPNW authentication. * Reboot the computer. Once you have completed these steps for all domain controllers in the domain, then the domain will correctly authenticate FPNW user logon requests passed through from trusting domains and standalone servers in this domain.
